I know I'm getting picky here, but wondered if you can buy white zinfidel wine at the Caribbean shop and go? They have it at WL and that was so convenient! Thanks

I am pretty sure you can buy wine and beer at all the resort stores, but I have not been to CB in a while.

Of course you can, I do it all the time:thumbsup2

Does anyone know what kind of availability and prices I should tell my in-laws to expect?

We're actually staying at AKV, so I'm most specifically asking about Zawadi Marketplace (but information about another resort would probably give me a rough sense of what to tell them).

My DW and are really aren't big drinkers and we have generally spent most of our time in the parks, so we've never paid attention to these particulars.

They sell an assortment of wines (and beer) at the hotel gift shops. Expect to pay 25% to 50% more than you would pay at home.

Don't forget the corkscrew.

Thanks for the response. Since we will be in villas, we should have access to a corkscrew.

But.... here's my next problem.

We're Canadian and therefore have no idea what "you would pay at home" in the US.

Do you know, do they have 6-packs? 12 packs? (beer) Can you give me an example price from either wdw or home?

Thanks!!!

I just bought a couple of bottles of red wine here at home for Thanksgiving dinner. I paid about $12 (USD) for each one. This is nothing fancy, but should be drinkable with dinner.

Beer prices are crazy at WDW...I'm thinking around $3-$4 per bottle. If you get any of the imports, they are even more expensive. If you are going to drink much you'd be ahead to get a cab to a liquor store off property and bring it back to your resort.:earsboy:

Will you swap a loonie for a buck?;) I remember hearing that WDW would advertise "at par" specials for y'all. There would be no takers now that you are ahead on the exchange.:sad2:

IIRC, the resort stores sold beer as singles (you can buy as many as you can carry) for $1.50-$2 each. Go to the store, NOT one of the food places or it will be twice as much. They also have small bottles of liquor.

I don't know about the prices at AKV because we stay at the Swan and always buy our wine in France because it's easy to make it our last stop as far as carrying it because we'll buy it on the way out and walk to the hotel. The prices are about 25% more than home but the wine is great. After all, it is from the France shop:laughing:

:offtopic: As long as it's for a Canadian buck!

Just wait, you'll get the at par offers in Canada eventually. But, the US dollar will have to drop a bit more first. At this point, an 'at par' offer in Canada would still end up costing you more than vacationing locally.

I bought a bottle of wine at the Poly, in their little grab and go convenience store (sorry, I forgot the name) and the CM that rang us up had a corkscreww right there and offered to open it for us. I think all of the convenience stores in the resorts offer this now.

(But you are right, they should still play it safe and bring a corkscreww!)
