Hi I am getting married at Disney and my parents are DVC members, and our home resort is Bay Lake. We will be staying there during the wedding, and I was just wondering if we would be allowed to bring some of my guests up to the Top of the World Lounge with us? Probably not even during the fireworks. Everytime I have been up there it is not crowded so thought it would be a nice place for a small get together of some family members for drinks and converstation. Is this allowed? I would think so if they are with the members staying there, but I wasnt sure. Thanks.

First, congratulations!!!

Technically, only guests staying at BLT on a DVC membership can use the TOTWL.

However, when we were there in the summer, they were only asking for one KTTW card so it depends on who is at the desk.

Some CM's ask for everyone's card (it was like that last year) and if that is the case, then your guests won't be allowed up.

They are actually supposed to be staying with you at the BLT, not another location at WDW, in order to visit the TOTWL.

Ok so maybe the Wave Bar would be a better idea then? Anyone know what time its open until? Thanks!

When we visited in July a member staying on points could bring guests to the lounge that were not staying at BLT.

This policy was on display at the ground floor elevators.

That's different from what they posted in Disney Files. If that is the case, they need to inform the membership via Disney Files or the website.

Agreed. Signs were on full display on the ground floor by the elevators.

Disney is not great at communicating changes in conditions with members but eventually gets around to it.

I think then DVC Members who are not staying at BLT, and cannot enter the Top of the World Lounge will now be upset. I know I would be if I was there at BWV for example, and was not allowed in, yet a non member "guest" staying at Pop Century (for example) gains access. What's up with this?

I don't think it is reasonable for any DVC member to complain about access to the lounge.

Every member has the opportunity to stay at BLT and use the lounge. The conditions for using the lounge are clear. It's a question of choice. If someone decides not to stay at the resort they can not seriously complain about not getting access to facilities. It's their choice.

As far as having guests attend the lounge.... I expect to be able to have a drink with anyone I choose at a resort I am staying at. I don't expect to have to leave a resort to have a drink with a friend. I would be allowed to do this at a hotel and I guess Disney have woken up to this.

Any private members club allows guests of members to use facilities no reason why Disney should do things differently.

What exactly did the sign say? It always said "DVC members and their guests" but that was referring to the guests staying at BLT with them.

I just want to be sure that I am understanding that the sign has been changed to specifically state that non BLT guests are allowed up.

That's what I was thinking as well, Sandi. That the sign referred to non-DVC member guests staying with the member at BTL.

I stayed on points at BLT in September on Labor Day weekend and was able to take up my friends staying elsewhere on property as my guests. TOWL & deck was not very crowded at all. There were more people on the Cali Grill decks than atop of BLT.

I think getting into the lounge is a little like swimming at Stormalong Bay. Some CMs will ask for every room ID for everyone trying to get in, and some will ask for one room ID for the group. It just depends on if you get the serious CM or the not so serious CM.

Can't remember the exact wording....but it was vague enough to leave it open to different interpretations.....
