Can you bring food on an airplaine?

But the real question is...are they checking the checked baggage? Or can I take my packets (jelly, pb, mayo, ketchup, etc) and put them in my suitcase, then check it through?

By BIL works for United, flies BOS-LAX as his regular route. He says the flight attendants know that if someone wants to blow up a plane badly enough, they will. He said he personally won't feel safe until no luggage, carry-ons, or clothing are allowed...

There are no restrictions on carrying these items in checked baggage while flying domestically in the US.

I just flew back yesterday and I brought back a piece of carrot cake from Pop in my carry-on (couldn't eat it at lunch and hated to throw it out) The TSA guy was so funny when I asked about taking cake he said "as long as it isn't chocalate, then I would have to confiscate it Mam."

Right now, TSA seems to be allowing liquid/gel-like food products if they are incorpoated with other food but not if they are still in a packet or container.
I watched a helpful TSA agent explain to a woman that she couldn't bring her salad + dressing packet through security, but if she put the dressing on the salad, it would magically become acceptable. Go figure.
