Can you book ADR's online and if not - WHY not?

I would assume some jerks would book online reservations each day and sell them (for transfer) on ebay. The same idiots that buy Red Sox tickets for $50.00 and re-sell them for $350.00.

We see bots and other abuses being used for things like Hannah Montana tickets online, who says ADR booking wouldn't be just like that? Some people are just as crazy for CRT breakfast.

as much as i'd love the convenience of online ADRs, it's too wide open for misuse and abuse....

If people were requested to show photo ID, I think that would avoid the whole 'scalping' or ebay issue. I am totally confident there are mechanisms in place to avoid doubling on reservations as well.
