Here's the situation. DW and I have our first home stay at BLT this July. Next May, one of my best friends is getting married, and his wife really wants to take a trip to Disney. We were thinking of getting 2 studios at AKL so each of us would have our own room. Would there be any problems making 2 reservations for the same week? I would imagine not, just have my name as the lead on ours and my friend as the lead on the 2nd room. I just wanted to see if any others have had any problems with this.

Also, this would be a trip for late June, do you think it would be tough to get 2 of the "value" studios at 7 months out? Thanks!

Of course you can book two rooms. No problem.

As for standard view availability at 7-months.... it's possible, but not a sure thing. Call first thing the exactly 7 months before you check in and cross your fingers.

If you have the points, you can book as many villas as your points will allow and that are available.

We're doint a split stay this year... We booked a MK view at BLT 11 months out. We ended up getting great airfare on Jet Blue... $124 round trip for Rochester NY, direct flights both ways & 1st checked bag free!(had to book ROC departure a day earlier to get this deal) Unfortunately, this was at 7 month and MK view was not available at BLT for the additional night. We could've booked a Lake View, but opted to stay at VWL for the night, since we haven't stayed there yet.
We're in the process of buying a SSR resale add on contract, which has borrowed points that need to be used by December. After we close and points are in DVC database, we're going to book a 2nd night at VWL, which will overlap with our check in day at BLT. This way we won't be "Homeless" and we can take our DD(will be 2.5) there for a nap in the early afternoon.
Have others done this with split stays?
