Can you bank transferred points?

I've got 61 points that will expire in April 2005. I'd be interested in renting them out BUT:

1. Is it possible to do a swap with a willing DVC member, where they could give me 61 points for next year?

2. Our next trip (after this September) will be in 2006. So if I CAN swap with someone, and they transfer me their 2005 points, can I then bank those transferred points into my 2006 use year?

This would allow someone else a few points this year, and allow me the points for our next trip.

You can bank transferred points and there are suggestions that the usual banking windows and percentages may not apply as stringently as with your usual points.

Do I have to wait until 2005 to accept the transfer, or can next year's points be transferred to me immediately?

2005 points can be transfered to either a 2004 use year or 2005 use year depending on the use years of each.

The way I understand it, you can NOT transfer out and in during the same year. So if you transfered 61 points to someone, you would have to wait until the next year to have them transfer to you. I have never done this, but this is the way I have seen this explained here on the DIS.

I was told by MS transfered points can not be banked or barrowed points. They have to be used during the uy allottment only. So, if you were to transfer 05 uy points to some one they would have to use them in the 05 UY. Also, if you transfer out of your account you cannot transfer in to you account for a year. I' not sure if that means a calendar year or a use year? I forgot to ask, sorry.

I think it's just the vernacular, or you got a mis-informed CM.

If points have been banked (or borrowed) by member A, they cannot be transferred to member B.

If however, member A has non-banked or non-borrowed points, he may transfer them to member B who may bank them, within the guidelines.

I have banked transfered points, both for our home resort (BWV) and a non-home resort (OKW in this case). So your answer would be yes to the general question. As for your swap idea, it might work, but it also might be problematic.

A couple of years ago they changed the rules so you can now bank transferred points though I don't think you can borrow them. You can transfer IN or OUT unlimited during a USE YEAR but not both directions the same use year, this change was made in 2000 at the same time they changed the holding account reservations from 30 to 60 days.
