Can you bank more than once?

Is banking only allowed once per year? I know I have 42 points to bank, but if I decide to cancel my March trip I will also have those points to bank. Should I wait until closer to the end of the month (when I will have made a decision) and bank them all, or can I bank the 42 points now and bank the others later this month (my deadline is Jan. 31)?

You can bank as often as you wish, (b4 your banking deadline).

I have an Oct. UY, with a May 31st deadline, so I would guess that a Sept. UY would have an April 30th deadline........................BUT..............I'd still call MS to make sure!

April 30th, you can bank during the first 8 months of your UY.

You could just borrow if you do go and have banked. I almost always have some points banked and some borrowed.

November 30th, is your banking dead line, 8 months from your UY.

You borrow points based upon your reservation requirements when you make the reservation.

But if you have 42 points remaining, you could make 42 different calls banking one point each time.

Banking is used for example, when you can not use all your points in the current use year. You want to use points in a future use year for a vacation.

For April 2008 you recieved let's say 150 points, you decide that you do not want to take a vacation in your current use year (April 2008 to March 31 2009). Therefore you bank your 150 points before November 30, 2008 into your April 2009 use year. You now will be able to use those points for reservation April 2009 to March 31, 2010 along with your regular April 2009 150 points (giving you use of 300 points for a vacation in your April 2009 use year). Once points are banked they can not be "unbanked".

Each individual point can only be banked or borrowed as a one time, final transaction. Once banked or borrowed, they cannot be returned to their initial use year.

Now, (easy example using a January UY) if you banked all of your 2009 points, but then in summer change your mind and want to take a fall trip in 2009, it is not a big deal, because you could still borrow points from 2010 (well, as long as you did not borrow them already). Then you will book your 2010 trip with your banked 2009 points. (MS should always use banked points first, but it never hurts to ask..)

The points you banked should go into the next use year, ie if you bank during the 2009 use year, those points are to be used during the 2010 use year.

If those points are not used during the 2010 use year they are gone. You cannot bank them again; if you change your mind after they are banked you cannot "unbank" or borrow them back into 2009.

In your case then, they would be available for you on April 1.

Points can only be banked into your NEXT upcoming Use Year, not beyond that.

You have an April Use Year - as of today you are in your April 2008 Use Year ( and beyond your banking deadline I might add which was Nov 30 2008 )

but just to give you a clear example :
April 2008 UY is from April 1 2008 through March 31 2009.

So Up to and Including Nov 30 2008 you could have banked those 2008 UY points into the upcoming 2009 Use Year and if you did then your April 2008 UY points are now available for you to use

from April 1 2009 through March 31 2010 during your 2009 Use Year.

These banked 2008 UY points cannot be banked again (into 2010 Use Year for example) and the last date they could be used would be on March 31 2010.
