I really want to go to Chef Mickey's. Problem is my daughter has developed this THING about Chip and Dale. I am wondering if you can ask your server or the host or someone to have particular characters NOT visit your table. Has anyone done this? She really wants to see Mickey and Minnie and I want to see them in one place so that we can cut down on the # of character meals. I'm not finding a lot of options. I really have a feeling that once we are there, she'll be fine with it, but want to make sure we'll be okay if she gets all worked up.

The characters are very intuned to the guests. My 18 mo DD enjoyed them from afar but didn't like them once they got to our table. I just shook my head no and they moved on to the next table.

When my 7 yr old was younger, she too did not like the characters coming near her. We would just wave them off and they would wave back and keep going.

When we had dinner last year at Crystal Palace, my daughter got very upset when piglet come to our table (after a long day at the park). Piglet signaled to the next charcter to skip our table and then Tigger did the same and so on...

She liked them at the tables next to us at this point, but not at ours.

Hope this helps.

We dine at CM every trip. Our DD is frightened of Chip and Dale. I think that it's beacuse she never really sees them in cartoons and stuff, and the other characters she knows from the cartoons and movies.

On the last trip DD was 2 1/2. We had breakfast. Mickey and Minnie came over and she gave them hugs and kisses. When Chip & Dale walked in the room, she flipped out! They could tell and they by-passed our table. We never had to ask anyone to have them skip us. I think the characters are so used to this that they can tell if they are going to upset a kid. I amsure if you tell your server, they can take care of it, too.

Our DD loves Chef Mickey's at every time we go she asks when are we going to CM! So don't let the characters keep you away. This place is one of the best character meals at WDW.

My son used to FREAK out when ever he saw ANY costumed character (not just Disney). He would climb me like a tree to get away, which had me really worried about going to WDW for the first time!

A couple of months before we left, I rented some of the Disney character (not cartoons) Sing-A-Longs and watched them with my son to prepare him for our trip. It worked like a charm. He really loved them all. ;)

It is a shame she does not like Chip & Dale, they are my sons favorites and really interact well with the kids!

Good luck! :D

The crazy thing is, we saw Chip and Dale at the ice cream social when we went in Feb and she had a great time with them! I don't have a clue what the deal is now, but she knows C&D are at CM because we saw them from the monorail. She is six by the way, so I really don't know where this is coming from.

I love the sing along video idea for my 2.5 year old! He's okay if the characters are sort of near him, but doesn't want them to touch him or talk to them. Maybe if he werre more exposed to them he would get more into it!

I'm going to go ahead and make my PS and trust that everything will work out.

Our oldest DD(3+) loves the charaters... our youngest DD (18 months) HATES them........ SO we have a routine for CM....

Juju (the baby...lol) sits next to me, and I act as the buffer, Maddie sits on the outside right up front. It works well....

BUT

We did have a run in with a Minnie, who despite me saying stay away several times( and waving my hands, kept insisting on trying to rub Juju's head.... I ended up yelling STOP, cant you see she is freaking, GO AWAY :( She really ticked me off.... she knew Juju was getting upset (when juju gets upset EVERYONE knows it lol) yet, I guess somehow she felt she could win over a screaming child.........

BUT 99.999999999999999999999999999% of our encounters have been wonderful!
