Can you apply new points to an existing cruise reservation

I am considering purchasing points at AKV. According to our guide we would have a use year of September. We have a DCL cruise booked already through All Seasons travel for November 2007. If we purchase DVC points now, can we apply the to the balance of the cruise? How do you estimate per point the value toward a cruise?

TIA

No you cannot do that. You would actually need to cancel your existing reservation and book a new one with Member Services.

Our current reservation is a suite and $2,500.00 of what we have paid is a deposit. It is my understanding that deposits on suites are not refundable. I would like to use points but not if it is going to result in the loss of the deposit. Since we have a cruise planned this year, we probably will not travel to WDW again until 2008.

In speaking with our guide, it may be possible to apply DVC points to our existing reservation, but the travel agent would first have to release the booking back to Disney. I have posted a question on the DCL board about that process, but thought I would update this thread as well.
