My PDA has Bluetooth but not WiFi and I dont' want to spend $100 on a WiFi card for it.

Bluetooth is completely different from WiFi. Bluetooth is a technology that pretty much lets devices talk to each other. for example my cell phone has bluetooth, and so does my laptop, so all my contacts sync wirelessly. I highly doubt you'll be able to access Bluetooth at Disney Resorts.

Although I think you can rent WiFi cards at Resorts that have it (i think GF does in common areas) But I'm not sure if it's just WiFi cards for Laptops.

I used Bluetooth staying at POR, FW, and ASM. I have Nokia Bluetooth phone and Apple Power Book with Blue tooth. My provider for internet connection was T-Mobile. I went on line in my room, while sitting in the food court or at the quiet pool.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately I have a Nextel phone (they don't do Bluetooth :( even though we pay over $100 a moth for service and $200+ for our phones!) so I can't link it through my phone. I found the WiFi cards for the PDA at the Palm store online for $100 that would take the phone replacement value up to ~$350,~$50 less than the one that has built in WiFi. This is frustrating because I was led to believe by the salesman that all I had to do was have this PDA and a wireless router on my home to be able to sync wirelessly and get online. Now I found our after spending 30 minutes on the phone with a suppoert tech in another country  that my home PC must have Bluetooth (naturally, it doesn't, another cost to enable that) and I must call my ISP and have sharing enabled through them (get a code). Then I find out that even though it says it is wireless, it means it is if I have the WiFi!

Sorry to hear about your dilemma. Bluetooth is great for travel or in the case of hurricanes, power failures. T-Mobile charges 19.95 a month for unlimited anytime internet access. All I need is phone and laptop and I'm online. I use cable at home but for on the road it's great. :cool1:

Does anyone know if you can use a Verizon Wireless Wireless Card on a laptop to access the internet at Disney without paying Disney the 9.95 for 24 hrs? I'm somewhat computer illiterate.

i'm sure you could. as long it's within verizon's coverage area. pretty much anywhere your cell phone works the WiFi card will work. And you will not have to pay $9.95 for Disney's WiFi. Also another plus is that if you can get reception in your hotel room, you'll be able to be wireless there too.

Disboy is right about the Bluetooth specification; TurnR, I'm pretty sure that you weren't using Bluetooth to actually connect to the web, unless you are using very new technology! You might have been using Bluetooth to connect your laptop to your phone, which then, in turn, connected to your wireless provider (using a different standard than Bluetooth, like CDMA or GSM).

You'll need either a PDA with data capability over a wireless network (like a Treo) or a device with WiFi capabilities (that will enable you to get on the Disney WiFi network for a fee) to have wireless Web access.
