Can we we happy without a verandah?

Hey, you'll be on board the Magic. How could you not be happy? Right? The answer to your dilemma is deck 4 and deck 7 aft.

On our first 4 cruises, we booked Verandah rooms.
But our last cruise, we booked Cat 11 (they were steeply discounted).

What we missed most was the extra storage space.

So I would suggest trying for at least a "Deluxe" stateroom (Cat. 10 or better).

If you are trying to save money and going with a Cat. 11, then I would suggest the over-the-door shoe holder others have recomended to help make up for the limited storage space.

While a veranda is our preference we have sailed without one and had several excellent cruises sans veranda.

I think its all about your mind set before you go. If you convince yourself beforehand you will not have as good a time without a verandah, then you probably won't. The money you save can be used to enhance your cruise in other ways.

Thre's no such thing as a bad cruise-even without a verandah.

I have sailed on the Magic three times - Cat. 4, 6 and 10. Just booked a 50th birthday cruise and doing another 10. We had quiet neighbors both times but just didn't spend that much time in the room and on the verandah to justify the cost.

This will be our 4th cruise and we've gone with and without the verandah. I liked having the verandah for our 7 day cruise, but on the shorter cruises you spend so little time in your room it doesn't seem necessary. Plus, we have extra cash to spend on excursions!

Before we booked with cat 9 porthole stateroom... I went back and forth on the verandah thing. Truth is I don't know which we'd prefer- since this is our first cruise.
But I do know we don't usually spend very much time in our rooms at any hotels or resorts we've stayed at on ANY of our vacations- so I took that into account. Also we have 2 rooms booked for our family of 5- so we'll have "alone" time with the kids in the connecting room... yanno?

I also had to take into account how I'd just feel safer without a door to the kid's room leading out to a verandah... okay so call me a worrywart. LOL

I also wanted a lower deck for our first time- I don't know if any of us are going to have seasickness problems and higher decks may make it worse if we do...

I've seen pictures of our room out the porthole- and I think it's a great view- without having to go out on a verandah.

It really just depends on you, how much you'll use the room -and how much you'd use a verandah.. as well as many other issues. I had to weigh all the pros/cons for MY family and I think we made the right decision for our first time. I might change our mind by the next cruise- depends. :)
