Can we walk to the resort restaurants from the parks?

I don't take buses, monorails, or any public transportation due to claustrophobia/agoraphobia. We would like to make ADRs at restaurants like 'Ohana which, if I'm not mistaken, are located in the resort hotels. We're also thinking of one of the restaurants at the AKL and maybe some others.

Is it practical to walk to the resorts from the parks? I don't see any other way I could get there. Well, except drive. We will have our car.

We're almost to the 180 day mark so we need to make some decisions! :cool1:

Thanks!

how about the ferrys?? Most you will have to drive, I think there is only one that has a walking path that is MK going to Chef Mickey's

Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to take a ferry either. But driving is okay. We can manage that...we'll just schedule our meals around our break times when we'd be going to the car anyway.

Good to know! Thank you!

You can walk from HS and Epcot to the Beach Club and Boardwalk areas - lots of restaurants to choose from in those areas. It's a little farther to walk from HS, but is doable, if you like. It's a nice walk along the waterway. We have done it. You can also walk to the Contemporary from MK - just a short walk.

:) When you drive into the resort parking lot, just show the confirmation for your ADR is asked...you probably will just need to give them your name and they will check their list.

If you go to the MK you will have to get back to the parking lot via monorail or boat. You maybe could get a taxi from Contemporary resort to the TTC to pick up your car. You have to ferry, boat or bus to get to the MK gate. You park your car in a large lot and they pick you up in an open tram--long golf cart type vehicle. They then drop you at the TTC (Ticket and Transportation Center and that is where you change transporation to get into the MK. This is the only park like this--the others you can just park in the lot at the gate and walk in.

I would have your DH drop you off at the Contemparary, then you can just walk across the street into the MK gate...then he will have to park the car at the TTC, and take another form of transporatation to meet you at the gate. It is too far to walk hense the need for monorail and ferry.

Just wanted to be very sure you understood the logistics. I hope I made sense.

:) I want to help ensure you have the best time possible. Let us know if you need any help once you decide which restaurants you want. At MK I would just eat in the park unless you need to leave for a break. Your DH will leave MK park, get on WDW transportation and get to the car. He can then pick you up at the Contemporary. That is the closest he can get to you in a private vehicle at that park.

Unless you are staying at the Contemporary, you will have to take something to get to MK. Either the bus, monorail, or ferry. Hope you have a great trip.

I think op asked questions before if so i remember you have a h/c placard right? if so you can valet park at any resort for free. so if you go to contempory you can valet park the car and then walk to mk and back. epcot and dhs you can walk to bwi,bc,yc,swan and dolphin. akl you will have to drive to their no walking path to that resort.

:) I just thought there was a time limit on parking at resorts if you were not staying there--so if they were going to spend the day at MK he would not be able to keep the car there. I may be wrong.

You can drive up to any resort no problem and walk in to eat.

But if you are leaving MK to say eat at Ohana because you would be in that area--and if you are unable to ride the monorail or ferry...then DH will have to go get the car in the MK parking lot, then drive to CR the closest MK resort and pick you up. So MK is your only hurdle that I see. Because of travel time once there I would stay there and eat there. At EPCOT you would easily just walk out to the car in the parking lot and go wherever you wanted, same for AK and DHS.

Do you think you can ride in the open air trams that take you from the gate to parking at all? You can definitely walk to your car at the other parks the tram just makes it quicker obviously.

their is but if you want to valet park you can stay longer because you pay 12 to valet park so they okay with it. but if yo have a h/c placard it free so you can still park their all day.

I'm not saying this to be mean so don't take this the wrong way but if you can't ride the monorail, buses or ferry boat how on earth are you going to be able to do the rides. The lines even fast pass lines are all close together and most rides are in tight spaces indoors.

What we think we're going to do for this is have my husband drop me off at the Contemporary and then meet me back at there after he parks. Is it far to walk from the Contemporary to the front entrance of MK? If it's not too far or too wide open, I might be able to walk to the entrance by myself.

It's not far at all - across the street. We walked from MK to the Contemporary for our reservation at Chef MIckey's.

I DON'T have a handicapped placard. Are you saying I could pay to valet park at the Contemporary and be allowed to keep my car there all day???? I didn't think that was allowed. But it would be a huge relief to me if we could do that. Our trip is in the off-season (sept.) if that makes a difference.

I'm not going to ride any of the rides. It's even an issue for me to get on the highways to drive down to get to Disney.

My husband will take the kids on the rides and I will be the Official Photographer. While they're on the rides, I will take pictures of them if I can see them. Otherwise, I will have a tablet with me with games on it and I might go searching out Hidden Mickeys. Or I can people watch or go shopping. The people on this boeard helped me come up with lots of ideas so I can stay busy.

if you get over to epcot there there is a mean cinnamon roll at the bakery in the sunshine seasons. This is where I plant myself while DH and the kids ride Soaring. I can have a coffee and cinnamon roll in peace and I get to people watch to my hearts content. It's one of my favorite guilty pleasures at Disney.

Sorry got you confused with anothe dIser yes if you valet park for 12 you can keep it their as long as you want plus you able to go to another resort that day and not have to pay to valet park it again.
