DH and I (two senior adults) will be in DL Sept 28 + 29 (Mon + Tues). Altho I've been to DW a dozen times, this is our first trip out west and first time in DL. We are planning one day at each park. We would like sit down dinners, but don't know where to make PS. Do we NEED to make PS or can we walk in for dinner? BTW....any suggestions for where to have dinner? I realize this is a very subjective question:)

Yes, you can walk up w/o a PS. I think you could encounter a place, like maybe Blue Bayou that could be full, but I would think that would only be at busier times.

We like Cafe Orleans at DL and Wine Country Trattoria at DCA, both of these places are table service. :)

I have been able to walk up to a table service restaurant several times. I recommend Wine Country Trattoria and Storyteller's Cafe.

All depends on how busy the place is and it looks like you are going at a slower time. I would recommend Napa Rose, Blue Bayou or Steakhouse 55. Alot also depends on how much $$$ you want to spend and what kind of atmosphere you would like.

Still would like to know what the definition of a "Senior" is!

Have a great time,

Jack

we never could do a walk in. I was told long waits and no seats. I make reservations, much easier to get a table and know your going to eat :lmao:

I think all the restaurants everyone has suggested are fabulous choices for you - the only trouble is choosing just a couple of them! Blue Bayou or Napa Rose would be lovely for a nice (more expensive) meal. I think you would really enjoy Wine Country Trattoria in DCA or Carnation Cafe in DL (Carnation can have a long wait to be seated without a PS, however). Storytellers is a nice place. You will love all of them!

I recommend looking at the menus and deciding where you want to eat in advance. I swear by PS's. I would never do a table service without one. If for nothing else, but just to be on the safe side.

I recommend Blue Bayou. I just went there for the first time on Sunday the 7th. The food was out of this world, and the service was amazing!

You can check out the menu's here

We've done walk in plenty of times, once at BB even! But that was in Jan and it was pouring rain so that probably helped. LOL But yes, going in late Sept, you should be OK walking in. Have more than 1 option tho just in case, and if you're set one eating at any one place go ahead and make your PS, just in case. :)

Yes I guess it just depends on where you want to eat so research would be a good idea. I'm not very familiar with a lot of the fancier type restaurants located inside DL and DCA, but I would suggest reservations for the Blue Bayou, there's a number you can call. There's also plenty of restaurants in Downtown Disney.

Not sure what type or quality of food you are interested in, but if you're fine with fish and chips & chicken strips I would recommend The Golden Horseshoe at Disneyland. Go during a Billy Hill & the Hillbillies performance and that way you can have a meal and a show at the same time. But show up at least 25 minutes prior to showtime because the place fills up and the food lines are usually very long - well that's been our experience.

I think you can walk into Wine Country Trattoria at DCA without a problem, but if you want to eat at Blue Bayou I would recommend getting a PS in advance. You do NOT need to book it 60 days in advance - probably a week would be plenty of time. Personally, I'm not a fan of Blue Bayou - I think it is way too expensive for what you get. I'd probably choose Cafe Orleans instead, but it's a fairly limited menu. I'd recommend checking out the menus to see what appeals to you most - you can find them at http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/menus.htm

As Grim_Grinning_Girl said, there's lots of table service restaurants in Downtown Disney, too! And those are just a short walk away.

I love the Blue Bayou, but it is essential to get a PS reservation there. For the other places, you can walk up and get a table right away most of the times. During busier times of the year, you may need to make PS for these places.

Blue Bayou has good food (not great IMO) but the atmosphere is really what you're paying for. It really can't be beat. In DCA, the Wine Country Trattoria is okay, but I would suggest going to Downtown Disney instead that night. There are a host of restaurants there that are better. And the advantage DLR has is that everything is really close to one another. Walk out of DCA and you're in Downtown Disney. I like Naples or Catal in Downtown Disney, and a lot of people love Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen.

My absolute favorite restaurant in all of DLR is definitely the Napa Rose. I go there every trip and love it - and it's my favorite Disney Dining experience I've had including my meals at WDW. Yes, the price point is very high, but I think the food is so delicious and well worth it (I just end up eating snacks and food I saved from the hotel breakfast buffet usually to save during the rest of the trip). I always have great service there too.
