Can we talk diaper bags?

What kind of a diaper bag do you take with you to WDW? I'm going to buy something new to take with us, since what I usually use is small and wouldn't work for a vacation. It's good for being out a couple hours, but not all day.

I want something that's going to be easily stored in the basket of a City Mini, but it also needs to be something I can wear as a backpack or has a long strap that I can wear across my body when we need to ditch the stroller.

Two kids, ages at the time of the trip are 23 months and 5 years. I'd just be putting an extra outfit in the bag for the 5 year old. But for the 2 year old I'd have diapers, wipes, extra outfit or two, sippy cup, and all the typical stuff you'd take into a park for the day.

I was thinking about getting the large Vera Bradley backpack. Does anyone have one? Is it small enough to be a carry-on on the plane? Will it fit in the storage basket of a stroller?

Any other suggestions?

I use a large Vera backpack. I'm sure it will fit as a carry on, I haven't tried, but it's the same size as a regular school backpack. It should hold everything you need. As far as fitting in the basket of yor stroller, I can fit it my Mac Volo but only if the baby is not in the seat when I 'm trying to fit it in. Once it;s in everthing is fine. It's a very soft-sided back pack, and cute too.

All we use is the Baggalini Messenger Sling Bag. This bag is the best thing we have ever gotten. We can fit all kinds of stuff in it (we've stuffed three water bottles, diapers, wipes, extra clothes and snacks!) and it's easily worn, shifted during rides, fits anywhere. We bought it for our first trip with 3 yo twins and I think it is still going to work for our trip in january (with 5 yo twins and a 9 mo old!)

we use a cross-chest type backpack. As much as I would love to get a Vera Bradley bag/backpack, (well let's face it, anything!) I thought it was more important to get something DH would wear. I figured if I would it would be any easy way to share resposibilities without relying on storing things in the basket. I didn't want to have to worry about what I was leaving in the stroller when we went on rides -- everything we need is in the backpack. It has certainly gotten lighter as DS has gotten older!

I use the smaller size VB backpack in the parks but my dd is 7, so I think the larger one would be perfect. It will definitely be fine as a carry on as I use the VB Super Tote as my carry on and that is about 4 times the size of the backpack!

I have a Vera Bradley backpack and a messenger bag. My regular Diaper bag is the vera restyled diaper bag. I love all the new pockets and how easy it fits in the stroller, but handles are short only go over the shoulder.

We have gone with our DS (2.5) 3 times I have used a regular diaper bag I think it was the skip hop duo. It was good just too big.

2nd- My Baggallini which I love and DH loved but it didn't hold everything for us.

3rd- A standard backpack by Nike that is cushioned. This works out great and it carried everything from sweatshirts to water to diapers to snacks. I loved it.

For my "diaper bag" I use a backpack style bag with a drawstring top - the key is it's a cheap bag that was a give away. In this I carry diapers (in a gallon ziplock) and a pack of wipes, one change of clothes for each kid (again in a gallon ziplock), some snacks, disposable sippies, glow sticks, rain ponchos and maybe a few other small items. All things that wouldn't be too much of a hassle to replace if stolen. I leave this bag in the stroller at all times.

Then in MY backpack/bag I carry the park tickets, camera, autograph book, passporters, cell phone, small first aid/foot care kit - items that I want to keep on me at all times. When we take a break or have a meal I grab one diaper and the wipes and throw them into my bag for a change.

On our trip in Sept. we also carried a 6 pack size soft sided cooler with cold/frozen bottles of water and juice boxes. Since we are going in Dec. this time I will be bringing stroller blankets and likely our winter coats for nighttime - I will be putting these in a locker at park entrance and retrieving when needed. The lockers are a nice size, reasonably priced and you may 'park hop' with a locker (just save your receipt, show it at the next park and you will only pay the refundable key deposit - works if you want to go back to the resort as well).

HTH! :wizard:

Any backpack will work. Use your regular small diaper bag for valuables - cameras, tickets, wallets, etc. Take that everywhere you go (I like a cross-body bag for this purpose, and never take it off). Leave the backpack with extra diapers, change of clothes, etc in the stroller most of the time. My test is this: if losing the item would not ruin my day/vacation, it stays in the stroller for rides. If it would, then it goes in my small cross-body bag. So much easier than lugging a big, full bag on every ride!

I have a Fluerville diaper bag that I love, but it is too bulky so I know we can't bring it. I plan on just bringing a backpack that DH and I can switch off wearing. I might look into a VB backpack!

I second the Baggalini Messenger bag. I bought it when we took DS (19 mo at the time) and it worked out perfect. You would be amazed at how much it can hold! We are using it this time with DS (4) and DD (20 months). I probably won't be taking a change of clothes for DS - maybe just a shirt and underwear.

When we are at WDW we use my oldest DS's school backpack. It's a typical LL Bean one.

my kids are nearly the same exact ages as yours. DH will carry back pack. we also have the mesh Maclaren bag that fits on the back of the stroller- it will hold diapers, bibs, etc for my 23mo and also has a cup holder for her straw cup.

I use a Petunia Bickle Bottom bag has the back pack straps and the long straps you can sling across your body messenger style. I also have the valet clips to snap it quickly to the stroller handle bar LOVE IT! Have used it multiple trips.

I also use a Skip Hop Dash, not a back pack but it can hook on the stroller handle bar and a long strap to wear messenger style. I have boys so that bag is camo and has DS#2's name monogrammed on in pale blue.

The PPB bag is black with red trim and fancier I guess but my DH so doesn't care his opinon is that he's running around with our kidlets he's pretty sure nobody assumes he's carrying his personal items in it, if they do so what.

we just took a cheap diaper backpack that the hospital had given out.
we could slide it over the part of the stroller you push, and it stayed on fine if i put a cup in each cup holder. we pu all our valubles in a small camera bag and took that on rides with us.
