There are other things to do too, and after a while you can get brave and experiment with the other screens. You will absolutely love the freedom it offers.

Sometimes I have difficulty with my wrist (I move too much I guess).

I will just set it on the ground to get its signal while I stretch or adjust stuff before my jaunt.

OMG I can't believe it, I read this post the other day and it got me thinking that I would really like one of these and it could make a good Mother's Day gift but I just peaked in here again now and saw lizdotcom's post about them being on sale at Amazon right now so I ordered one! My birthday is tomorrow so I guess I just got myself an extra birthday present! (I told DH I am ordering an early Mother's Day present and he said well your birthday is tomorrow so just order it I do love that man) I ordered the Garmin 201 with the free shipping. Thanks Liz for posting about them being on "sale"! Now I can't wait until it comes; no more having to jump in the car and drive what I just walked!!!! I am soooooo excited

Hooray!! I ordered my Garmin on Sunday and it arrived TODAY!!! PLUS..it has lime green stripes!!! I am so excited to start using it!! Tomorrow is our LW so the timing was perfect!! Thanks EVERYONE for all of your posts with info on this!!

I got mine today!!!

I had to when I realized the lime green in the strap as well. I even told Lily I got the DISer Garmin...at first she thought hers didn't ahve the lime green...but then she realized she got the COOL Garmin too!

Mine came yesterday! It has the lime green inthe strap too! I said to DD look it evne has green on it and she just rolled her eyes at me lol. It was a busy day so I didn't get a chance to pull it out of the box but I have been going through the directions today and will get it charged up and hopefully use it for the first time tomorrow.

Yikes! I want one now! I saw so many at the Disney half, and my nike plus will never be accurate, no matter how many times I calabrate it. Which one has the green stripes? It looks like the Amazon price is better than ebay!

I have a 301 and it works well for me.

However, it can get finnicky when acquiring satellites. But once it's set I've had very few problems. Also, no problems downloading my runs to the computer.

I am however looking at the new 405. I'll probably wait a while and let the price drop some.

All I have to say about GARMIN.. is.. LOVE EM... BUT.. as Denny will tell you.. over fortyitis + 4 am start = I can't see the darn thing!! LOL!!

Get familiar with your buttons.. know them by feel.. NOT sight.. as reading glasses on a run aren't usually so convenient!! LOL!!

I have the Forerunner 301. I like the HR monitor, although I do not use it all the time. I don't really pay attention to it when I train ("Treat the patient, Not the Monitor"), but I just like to see what the ticker is doing when I download it into the computer.

The 201's & 301's are the "older" series (as opposed to the 205's & 305's). I don't know what the difference in functions is, so I don't know what I've missed by not getting the 305.

But the '01's are DEFINITELY cheaper. Check prices on Amazon. They are getting cheaper all the time.

Note: I REALLY like the "virtual partner" function. It helps me to keep up a pace when I run alone. But geeeez, that little guy in that thing is a REAL slave driver!!! Never slows down for ANYTHING!!

I like the new 405. It's much easier to read for those of us who may need reading glasses.

At least, it is for me. I like the background contrast. In addition, I like the style - not nearly as bulky as the earlier versions. However, the price. Yikes! I'm like VIc, I'll wait a few years for the price to come down. Besides, the one I have now is only a 1.5 years old.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 – it has the heart rate monitor that I never use. I love it! I like the size; it is just like a larger watch. I do wear reading glasses and find it is okay for me to read. I like the fact that it has the ability to track all your activities – I walk & bike. I upload to the computer and it shows your route, etc. But I do sometimes forget to recharge it!

So so sorry for raising some old dust! I am a new WISHer and I am looking for a Garmin.....and didn't realize this discussion was a year old!! Tee hee!
