Can we take a wagon?

When we visit the MK we will probably not go back to our hotel because we're staying near downtown Disney. So I was thinking about, instead of taking a stroller, taking our wagon that has two seats so both my son (2) and daughter (6) would have a place to sit so we could still go.

What do you guys think about that? What would be the advantages & disadvantages? Any input would be appreciated!!

Wagons are not permitted in the MK.

That's too bad if not allowed. I would think they would be a better idea than a stroller (no, I'm not stoller bashing).

Pulling something behind you is dangerous to others in places with crowds. They want you to be pushing in front of you where you have more control. I don't think you are supposed to bring pull anything. Have seen a couple pull backpacks and have seen them trip people, run over toes and knock folks down. I think it's a safety issue for everyone, even the little ones.

Personally I would rather have my stroller with sun cover, place to secure my items under and seat belts for my kids. With so many people bumping around (and not looking down), I would hate to see a little one bounced out.

Wagons aren't allowed in any of the WDW theme parks. I saw a family with a little boy in a wagon stopped at the International Gateway at Epcot last fall, and told they couldn't bring the wagon in. The father tried arguing with the CM at the turnstiles, but he got nowhere.

That might be, but they would be a royal pain in the butt to get on and off
the trams

Plus it is kind of hard to fold up a wagon to ride the bus or monorail.

We have seen people try to bring wagons and be stopped as well. One tried to get on a bus with it and the driver told them they couldn't ride with it. They seem to be fairly consistent with this rule.

When it is a safety rule, there is very little compromise with Disney.

You could rent one of the double strollers so both your children could sit in it. It might be a tight squeeze though.

If you rent a stroller in one park and visit another park on the same day hold onto your receipt - you won't be charged rental again for that day if you show your receipt.

How true! So you people who are used to being able to smoke in front of CMs, better watch out! In a way, I can see why that father was arguing with the CM (not saying he should, though). After all, so many CMs allow the rolling backpacks in-I've seen Disney security check them through. So when you finally encounter a CM who says you can't break the rule, it does kind of take you by surprise.

Well, I do have to add that I saw a wagon at the bus stop at MGM to go back to POFQ in April this year. It was the end of the day and I'm assuming (bad, I know) that they had been inside MGM. But when the bus got there, the driver opened the back door and the dad picked up the wagon while the mom got the children and they got on the bus in the back with the wagon.

Well, I do have to add that I saw a wagon at the bus stop at MGM to go back to POFQ in April this year. It was the end of the day and I'm assuming (bad, I know) that they had been inside MGM. But when the bus got there, the driver opened the back door and the dad picked up the wagon while the mom got the children and they got on the bus in the back with the wagon.

I would guess that they somehow got the wagon to MGM and were asked to leave it at the gates in exchange for a stroller. Maybe an uninformed bus driver on the way to MGM or a cab or such took them to MGM. I would place a large wager that they were not able to bring the stroller into the park. When they left the park they would pick up the wagon and I imagine the bus driver would have no chioce but to transport it back to the resort.

FWIW I have seen people with rolling backpacks and coolers 3x at the entrance. They passed security but were not allowed through the turnstyles, two were backpack rollers and the CM was very specific about telling them they needed to use it as a backpack and not roll it. One of the couples did as the CM asked (at least for a while) the other rollled it as soon as they were through the other side of the turnstyles. The third was a hardsided rolling cooler and they were not permitted to bring it into the parks. The CM was very specific that if it could not be rolled and since they had no other way to carry it.

Unfortunately I am the one who gets stuck in line at the turnstyles behind the most "interesting" situations.
