I know this is a silly question but we are going to wdw for the 1st time next thursday, but feel so disheartened about the weather. We are going to spend half the holiday in the parks and the rest relaxing and sunbathing around hotel pool and the water parks. The way the weather is at the minute is it possible to still sunbathe. Does anyone know how bad the weather really is.

It's been raining a lot yes, but not all day. The way it's been here in Gainesville is lots of bright sunshine in the morning, then the rain comes in the afternoon. I think it's pretty similar in Orlando from what I've seen on the Orlando news. Anyway it's not cloudy and rainy all day. Just watch the local weather in the morning and figure out when the best time to catch some rays is.

You should be able to get lots of bathing in. Usually FL rains all day or in the late afternoon. Just pick the right time. :sunny:

It rains every day in Florida.
We have spent about 5 weeks a year in Orlando over the last 9 years - and only ever once have we had a week that was a washout...

If the weather forecast (take no notice of them, they get them wrong EVERY day!) shows rain - and its sunny.. make the most of the sun and head to the parks later.

If you want a rain free vacation, orlando is not the place to go!
Go expecting rain and make the most of the sunshine.

Even when it does rain, its usually only for half an hour or so...
Head INTO the parks whilst everyone else is leaving!

Depends on the day, recently, it's been raining for about an hour in the afternoons here. There have been a lot of sunny days lately - but just as many cloudy ones.

Really pleased to hear those reports, sitting here in the North East of England just looking at various weather websites, getting depressed. Not used to the sunshine you see living here. You have cheered me up, many thanks.

I should also note, I've been sunburnt to some degree twice in two weeks. :(

We too head down next Thursday, and I looked at the forcast for next week and got depressed. After a year of planning to see thunderstorms everyday ws depressing. So to read that they only last for an hour (or less) make me feel somewhat better, and like my Dad always tells me "if weathermen could predict anything they'd be at the race track" ...let's hope for :sunny: and keep my fingers crossed, hmmm now where did I leave that pixie dust ??!! :earboy2:

As you know, Disney fully controls the weather in and around Orlando. On days when the parks are very crowded, they will provide you will ample opportunity to sunbathe......... :rolleyes1

Just as a reminder, you might want to use something with some sunscreen in it since the sun is pretty strong in the summer and it doesn't take long to get burned, especially if you aren't used to it.
