Our family of 7 adults would like to know if we can split entrees at TS restuarants. I wasnt sure if this was allowed or not or even if it was frowned upon. We were thinking of places like Sci-Fi, Prime Time, Le Cellier, etc.

It always seems like you get alot of food at Disney and since things are so heavily priced, it might be better this way.

Oh yeah, if we are allowed to split, do they charge for the split?

(I apologize ahead of time if this question was already answered on the boards. I just did a search for it and couldnt find it)

It depends somewhat. If you are at a buffet, you can not share. Each member of your party will be charged the buffet price. If you are at an off the menu restaurant, you can share entrees, appetizers, desserts. It may be a little tricky if you are on the DDP, but if not I don't believe anyone would look down on it or discourage it. And believe me, there will be plenty of food served! Have a magical trip.

If you are paying out of pocket, you can split entrees at TS restaurants (but not at buffets). I do not know if there is an extra charge for splitting. I also do not know if this can be done if you are on the dining plan.

Thanks for your quick replies. Just to clear it up, we would not be on the dining plan.:thumbsup2

We were at WDW last week for 4 days, on the DP, and shared meals at 50s PT, Yak & Yeti, and Restaurant Marrakesh, and there was no surcharge.

1) No problem anywhere, except buffets and all-you-can-eat.
2) We do it all the time.

We do it all the time too, especially appetizers and desserts. There is no way my family of three could eat an appetizer, entree and dessert each, but we do like to share appetizers and desserts sometimes. Three forks, one plate, dive in and every man for himself!

The only place I can remember ever being charged a "plate" charge - where we got one meal and split it - was RFC.

Every other place this year, we ordered three entrees and then ate a bit of each other's meal and it was no problem. It was especially fun with the desserts!

Ok, that makes sense because Rainforest Cafe is a chain and not owned by Disney. So they can set their own rules. The Disney owned places don't charge to split.

The only restaurant I've heard of that has an extra plate charge is Shula's at the Dolphin - again, not a Disney restaurant.

Do you remember what they charged for this?

We are two old folks, 60+ and last week we shared dinner at Kona Cafe, the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs, and they even let us share at Teppan Edo, We did order salad at TE and paid extra for that. There was no extra plate charge.

You can split anything you want, as many ways as you'd like at the Disney owned places. Obviously, not at buffets though.

I've split stuff before, and if you mention it to the server, they might even plate it out separately for you!

My mom and I were on the free dining plan on our August trip. We shared meals at Yak and Yeti, Sci-Fi Dine In, 50's diner and the Plaza Inn. We are both not large eaters and wanted to try as many different restaurants as possible. All four of these restaurants were very good. In order I would have to go Yak & Yeti, The Plaza, Sci-Fi and then 50s diner.

Can we share a plate at Ohana's dinner?

I was nto sure if that counted as a buffet.

No.

It's not a buffet, but it is all you can eat, and is charged per person (so each person present will be charged and you can't split the cost).

We split last time at the Brown Derby, Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Plaza. No problem to split and they even divided the portion for us.

I'm so glad you asked this question! We're hoping to share some meals on our upcoming trip since none of us are big eaters and we sure could use the $$ savings.
