Can we? Should we? A Spring 2009 PTR - New 5/6 - The TR has begun!

OK so here's the scoop... I'm not going to do a super detailed commando touring plan. I just don't want to get sucked into the "plan" and the obsession to stick with the "plan". So I'm going to write up a loose guideline for each day. You know... using my flexible OCD!

Monday, 4/27:
Check in/return rental car (yes - I think we're going to go without it for the week :scared1:)
Head to Epcot – get Alex’s GAC and go to stroller rental*
Get a Kim Possible FP
Ride a couple rides before dinner depending on the time (SSE, Test Track, Nemo & Soarin?)
Garden Grill @ 4:30pm (TS #1)
Take a walk around the WS – maybe do a Kim Possible Adventure
Illuminations? - may depend on whether we are able to get into our room at check-in or not... (I have to research the best viewing areas...)

*The stroller rental debate... so here's what we've decided to do - we are going to rent a length of stay single stroller, assuming a child will fit. If they are way too small, we'll just do it and rent a double stroller. DH hasn't asked for much, but he has requested no lugging strollers around outside of hte parks. If he wants to spend $200 on a double stroller for the week, so be it! I get to stay onsite so I guess he can have his rental stroller. ;) If we can get away with a single stroller, we'll rent a second single as needed for our late nights and full Epcot day.

Your plans look good Amy. I think you made a good decision on the stroller issue. Hopefully a single will be enough. It will be nice for DH not to have to struggle on and off the buses each day. ;)

I really wish we knew what that day would look like for us. I'll keep in mind that you will be in Epcot during the evening hours. Maybe we can figure a way to meet up. :thumbsup2

We watched Illuminations from near the gondola dock in Italy. It was a great spot.....we staked it out early and ate our CS dinner while waiting for the show to start.

Looking forward to the rest of your plans! :surfweb:

Lots of good things in April -- a trip to Disney for you and Autism Awareness Month! :thumbsup2

Your first day looks like a nice relaxing way to ease into your vacation! I am so excited about the Kim Possible Adventure -- can't wait to do it in June!

You know what? I think it sounds like a good idea.

Dragging those strollers (particularly double) on and off the buses and ferries is a pain in the neck!! :headache: If not doing that helps him stay in a fun vacation state of mind, then I say its money well spent! :thumbsup2

I can't believe you have 17 days! :cool1: I'll send you a PM with my cell phone number and if you end up at Epcot on the 27th give me a buzz.

Thanks for the Illuminations tip! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to try Kim Possible - I figure that might be a good thing to do on our first night - if they like it, we can do it again later in the week... :confused3

We're already spending a million dollars on this vacation - what's another $200, right? :rotfl:

This has been a very Disney week… unfortunately, Zachary has been home sick with a fever – ALL WEEK! :sick:He goes to school Mon-Thurs so missing school today means he misses a full school week. :headache: He’s OK – I had his lungs checked on Monday and they sounded OK – but he has a cough and a low fever that just won’t break. We're both getting a bit stir crazy!

I did manage to sneak out on Monday when DH was home to get ink and sharpies at Staples. I didn't get groceries, but I had to prioritize! :lmao:

The bad news is that I haven’t gotten much work done this week – a little bit, but not as much as I would have liked. The good news is that I’ve been able to do a lot of Disney planning/packing. Yes – the suitcases are upstairs now. :rolleyes1 I have all of DH’s shorts packed, most of Alex’s clothes packed, my shirts hung is a separate area of the closet and some of Zach’s stuff packed. I washed a bunch of stuff this week and need to iron some shorts/capris, plus I need to have Zachary try on some shorts.

One thing that has really helped get me in the mood has been my new Disney CD!! :woohoo:

I’d really like to find the CD that has songs from the MK rides – you know, the music they play when you are on hold with Disney Dining… is that a CD that I could buy? Anybody know what it’s called? What's the Splash Mountain song?? I really like that one but can't think of what it's called... :confused3

Also – Here are pictures of the finished tags – my DIS-tag and the boys’ ID tags (I just need to get ribbon):

I copied mousescrapper’s borrowed design from fellow DISer BayouMickey:

These are similar to what I made last time, but I added a Disney character – again, mouscrapper’s idea!

I’ve also made great progress on our “flexible OCD” touring plans. My biggest problem is planning around DBIL’s visit. I don’t want to be a touring plan nazi:cool2: while they are visiting so I am trying to squeeze in all of the important stuff on the days they aren’t with us. However, I know there are certain things that we will want to do with them… Anyways, I‘ll have day 2 posted later today.

How do you attach the id tags to the kids?

PS....it's 87 degrees in Orlando today!

Good question about the kids tags... last time all of their shorts has belt buckles so I tied them on with yarn. This year most of their shorts don't have belt buckles so I'm still trying to work this out. Mousescrapper pinned the tags inside her kids' pockets. I might do that (but I'm a bit afraid they will forget that the tag is in their pocket), or pin them to the shorts, still using yarn to attach the tag to the pin. I have large baby pins on my shopping list. I'll let you know what ends up working best.

87 degrees!!:banana::banana: Don't tell DH - he probably thinks that's too hot - but he knew what he was getting into when we had our Feb vs. April discussion!:rolleyes1

The tags for you and the boys are really cute! You said you haven't gotten much done this week but for having a sick child I think you've been able to do quite a bit! Have fun with all your preparations! Not much longer now!

I haven't gotten much WORK done this week. ;) I need to concentrate and have a chunk of quiet time - which I haven't had... I have had plenty of Disney time though. :thumbsup2

I love the new tags..way cute! If I hadn't already made mine I'd use that design too...I love Tink!

I am going to look for that CD on iTunes....I wanted to download some Disney music to put me in the mood and that looks like a good one! I want a little bit of everything! I don't know the name of that Splach Mountain song, but if you listen to live365 online radio at all they play it quite a bit.

Yay for starting to pack! :yay::yay:

I love, love, love the term you coined..."flexible OCD!" :lmao:

I have a CD from 2006, the "Walt Disney World Official Album" ...Where Magic Lives. It lists the "Splash Mountain Song" as Splash Mountain Medley. A big part the medley consists of Song of the South's Zippity Doo Da.

Hope that helps a little!

Hugs to Zachary... "get well soon, little guy!!"

Kathy

So sorry to hear that Zachary is not feeling well.

Great tags :thumbsup2.

I need to learn to have "flexible OCD", although I am trying to do better with this October trip, we will see how it goes.

I love that you got the sharpies and the ink, I would have had the same priorities :lmao:.

I've never listened to live365 before - thanks for introducing it to me! It looks pretty cool! There's a NH based channel - Mouse Junkies - there was a special on our local nightly program "NH Chronicle" not too long ago.

Catchy phrase, huh? I tried to find that CD but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere right now... I'm sure I can find something good when I'm at WDW.

Zachary was feeling a lot better today so I let him play outside (nice warm day here in NH today) - but that was probably a mistake - his fever is back tonight. :headache:

DH has been pushing me to get away with one of my girlfriends for a girls only weekend. Well as you all know, Fall Free Dining was recently announced!!!!!!!

I mentioned it to my neighbor & friend today and I saw a spark of interest!! So I looked up a package - 3 nights/4 days park hoppers w/ free dining at Pop in September - About $900 for both of us! That's only $450 each!

Of course we'll still have to get there... Southwest doesn't release September tickets until April 14th and JetBlue's prices aren't great unless we want to fly out of Boston (which wouldn't be too bad without kids) - those are about $250 each - not great, but OK.

I think we're going to wait to see what Southwest has to offer. I hope there are some value rooms available in a few weeks...

Did I hear something about Free Dining being extended into early November last year? Does anyone know about that? I'd much rather go in late October/early November than September. (Kathy - do I smell a DISmeet?)

How wonderful of your DH to be encouraging you take a "girl's weekend"! :)Free dining is so tempting isn't it? My DH and I have actually been talking about going for a weekend in late Sept. just the two of us. We haven't had time away as a couple since Caitlin was a baby! The great deals Disney keeps offering are really encouraging extra trips!
