Can we? Should we? A Spring 2009 PTR - New 5/6 - The TR has begun!

I love vintage pics both seeing how things change and stay the same. I was cracking up that those parade floats are the EXACT same ones that they are still using.

Thanks for taking the time to post those great memories!

But,

Eeek! Can we all make a pact, here and now, that it will not become the next TR Board Trend to post skinny pix of ourselves from ten or more years ago!!!

Because none of you would ever recognize me!! :rotfl:

Kathy

I'll try my best - but I do have pictures from 2002 to post... ;)

Loved all of the pictures Amy. :goodvibes

Thanks!! It was fun to look back at them.

Great pics! :goodvibes

Thank you!! Can't wait to post the next round.

Super fun pictures!

Thanks!! They bring back good memories!

That's probably the last time I saw a Disney parade! (Except the MNSSHP parade in 2007) Spectro is on my list for this year. :thumbsup2

I have a F!DP ADR at Mama Melrose's that I'm undecided about right now... I'm hearing horror stories about the crowds - we may have already seen enough evening entertainment for our family for the week. :confused3

I have a second itinerary that has us seeing F! on Thursday, April 30th, but based on the crowd situation and the fact that it's the only 8:00 Spectro of the week, I think we'll see spectro.

So what do you think??

Heidi... you must have something to say about this...:rolleyes1

My only real comment is that I don't see any real resort/pool time.

Oh come on... you can do better than that... ;)

Possible resort/pool time:
  • Monday when DH is returning car
  • Tuesday late afternoon/evening
  • Thursday late afternoon/evening
  • Friday break
  • Saturday break
  • Sunday break

I definitely plan to have plenty of pool time. Swimming does such good things for Alex - it really helps him sensory-wise. We'll rest too, but since the kids don't nap anymore, they can swim a bit then we can rest in front of a DVD or something in the room. And depending on the temperature - we have a few mornings that aren't definite rope drops - our kids are early risers! Which I'm a little worried about - Alex is sometimes up at 5:30 and I'm afraid he'll be waking the rest of us up!

I'm really looking forward to the CBR pools!!

First, here's a woo-hoo :woohoo: for the hours being released....it just helps so many planning pieces fall together!

I don't have the hours, but you mention that Thurs is the only 8:00 Spectro. Are there any nights that Spectro is being shown twice? Because it's worth a late night (IMHO) to see a second, later showing of Spectro (usually after Wishes.) Crowds are soooo much lighter....:thumbsup2

...and I just love that you have it written in your OP to have DUnc request the ketchup at WCC!!

Kathy

I know you are thrilled that the May hours are finally out! Are Spectro and Wishes not happening every night like they used to?

Kathy

I'm really looking forward to WCC - I've read about it in several TRs (including yours) and it looks like so much fun - especially with our whole group together.

No two spectro nights while we are there... more below.

I know you are thrilled that the May hours are finally out! Are Spectro and Wishes not happening every night like they used to?

Spectro will be showing only twice the whole week... during our April dates, Wishes is at 9:00, with Spectro at 8:00 on 4/30. During our May dates Wishes is at 10:00, with Spectro at 9:00 on 5/2. So we have some options for Wishes - but I'd prefer to see it at 9 rather than 10.

It's the same issue with F! It's only showing 3 nights while we are there - I'm not sure if we'll see it at all after reading reports of HEAVY HEAVY crowds. Luckily we've seen F! before in 2006. We've never seen Wishes or Spectro!

Do you know which three nights Fantasmic is showing? I wonder if it will stay the same for early June?

A CM's mom wrote something for the Allears newsletter this week....something about F! being shown 3 times a weeks and each days....I don't remember which days and I deleted the newsletter....sorry that wasn't much help.

Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday are the days during our week and it looks like that's the schedule most weeks, but there are some variations. The two weeks around Easter have shows every day... maybe they will go back to every day during the summer months since it is so busy??

That does actually help -- I will go back and check allears this afternoon.

Sorry, Amy, just a brief hijack....

Definitely not. That's one of the reasons all of us Obsessive Trip Planners go  waiting for the park hours...b/c they also contain info on which nights Spectro and F! are being shown!

But, I do think Wishes has remained a nightly event, right Amy??

Sometimes, if Spectro is at the MK on the same night that F! is playing at DHS, they will draw crowds from each other and, theoretically, the :crowded: for each won't be as bad....

Thanks, Kathy! I am also thinking if we go to the other two parks (AK and Epcot) on the nights when F! and Spectro are showing, it might be really quiet and vice versa.

Highjack anytime Kathy! ;) And yes - Wishes is till every night. I want to see it in April since it is at 9:00 - May 1st it switches to 10pm (very late for us - especially Zach).

I have heard horror stories about the crowds at F! - another reason we want to see Spectro on 4/30 - hopefully some of the crowds will be over at DHS. Although 4/30 MK has an EMH morning... :confused3

I would think the whole park (DHS) all day would be busier on the F! nights. It's a great show but I'd probably skip it this time around unless you just hopped over to see it and did a picnic dinner in the stands while you waited for the show.

I think I'll keep our 5/3 ADR at Mama Melrose's for the FDP, but one option I am considering is seeing F! if they offer a second showing. It sounds like they have been adding a second showing at last minute (either that day or shortly before that) based on crowds levels. From what I have heard, the second showing isn't usually full. But since the first show is at 8:30, the second show would be pretty late.

DH & I are going out to dinner tonight and I will certainly be bringing along a copy of the proposed itineraries and ADRs for discussion. Out to dinner is pretty much the only time I can get his attention long enough to discuss Disney...

I'll let you know what we come up with. ;)

Amy,

thanks for the 98 pictures...makes me want to go and look at my trip pictures form 9/98 I was probably 10 pds lighter too? but hey the flabby tummy now is my 'Mommy Tatoo" right? I've had 4 kids and the 1st two were twins.

Maybe I'll post a comparrison from our trip....later.

Plans....things are coming together:thumbsup2

Glad you have all your times & such finally. Looking forward to more.

J-

Personally, if I had to choose between Spectro and Fantasmic!, I'd take Spectro any day! ::yes::
