Last week DH was home so we could take some day trips and he could take Zachary to a parent/child soccer camp here in town. Zachary had come down with a little cold, but nothing too serious. Then Sunday night he was up half the night coughing he didnt sleep a wink between 12-3am! (And therefore, either did I.) I took him to the doctor on Monday and he had pneumonia! (It was a mild pneumonia caught early - before he even had a fever - possibly even bronchitis.) The doc put Zachary on Zithromax and said he would probably be fine in a couple days, but Monday was supposed to be our Canobie Lake Park trip.
I babysit two little boys twice a week. Two weeks ago they sent the 3 year old to my house with a fever and cough

hmmmm

Obviously I called and had them pick him up that day, but its quite obvious to me where the pneumonia came from. Alex was sad, but DH made it up to him by taking him to this fun place that has go carts and an arcade that he loves.
After juggling a few things around we decided to go to Canobie Lake Park on Friday. I called the mom of the boys I watch and asked her if her mother could watch the kids on Friday so we could take our trip. I normally wouldnt do this, but I had no guilt since she was the one who sent the germs into my house in the first place. DHs mom was working Thursday night (she works overnight as a nurse), but she wasnt working Friday night so she still wanted to come with us.
Tuesday wasnt very exciting, we had a bunch of appointments and I worked for a few hours at my bookkeeping job.
Wednesday was our trip to Water Country.

My mom came along. It was 74 degrees and breezy. It would have been a lovely day for Canobie Lake Park, but we were going with the Easter Seals Autism Network so we had to go on Wednesday. It was a lot of fun, even though it was chilly at times. Does anyone know what Geronimo is? Its the wedgie ride that goes straight down. DH, my mother and Alex all went on it!!!!!!

It was so funny to watch. Alex was just at the 48 inch mark (actually just under but they were nice at the ticket counter) so he was one the smallest kids to ever go on Geronimo. Zachary was a bit of a dare devil too he can be a bit nervous about these types of things, but he went down the Double Dive Boggan which is a mat ride that you go down head first. He was so proud of himself.
On Thursday I had the kids to watch, but Alex went with him autism mentor (they go out in the community and work on public behavioral skills) that day so DH took Zachary fishing.
Friday was finally our Canobie Lake Park day. It was 87 degrees that day it would have been a perfect Water Country Day!

It was PACKED! Fortunately they have a special needs access bracelet (similar to the GAC but more confusing to use). Ill do another post just about this trip later.
We finished off our week with an uneventful weekend, shoe shopping, swimming lessons, etc. Today & tomorrow Ill have a full house with my two kids plus the boys I watch then Alex goes back to school on Tuesday.

Zachary doesnt start until the 8th.
The news that I was referring to in my last post is that on Wednesday afternoon the mom of the boys I watch called to tell me that she put them in day care.

I totally understand but it still stinks for now. The little one, who is almost 2, is significantly speech delayed he is talking at the 12-13 month level. The speech therapist recommended that he be in a child care situation where there are other kids his age. The same agency they are working with used to work with Alex when he was 2 and they told us the same thing so I know it is whats best for him. Im actually kind of over doing home child care anyways, I feel like I dont always have the energy and patience I need for my own kids on the days they are here, but weve become accustom to the money so Ill have to get another job. I was hoping to make it through one more year until Zachary goes to kindergarten because it is from 8:30-1:30 every day - much more convenient for a working mom. Luckily I have my bookkeeping skills that Ive been using for the past two summers because otherwise I have been out of the real working world for 5 years and Im sure I would be quite rusty. Ive put a call into a woman I used to work with who opened her own company. I saw her in the grocery store probably a year ago and she told me that they are always looking for people to do payroll and other light bookkeeping for their client companies hopefully that is still the case! Going to work now while Zachary is still in preschool will mean having to pay extra to keep him at school for extended day. Luckily they offer that option, but it is still something we hadnt planned for. Plus I'm going to be sad when I miss field trips and other opportunities to go into the classroom. I really enjoy doing that so I'm hoping I don't have to work every day of the week and that there might be some flexibility in which days I work... can't I have it all??
How does this effect Disney? I dont know yet.

This could be the best things to happen to me since I wasnt happy doing what I was doing, but it could be bad news if I cant make enough money to pay for the trip
Maybe not taking a trip in 2009 would take some of the pressure off of us to make it through this school year?? I will definitely keep you updated on my job search. Now I just have to go re-create my resume I havent needed it since 1999. If only I could remember what I used to do
I'll take any pixie dust you want to send my way!
