Yes, but not all are successful.

People certainly do request a specific building. Some even go so far as to request a particular room number.

But I wouldn't recommend it. If that room/building isn't available, the person assigning the room has no way of knowing why that was important to you. You're better off specifying a unit close to/away from the main building, parking lot, or whatever else is important to you.

My last stay (May) I requested a specific bldg in a specific section and didn't get either. When I questioned this, they did offer me another room that wouldn't be ready until 3pm, but the first room was ready when we checked in 8am, so I went ahead and took it. I ended up liking the new section we stayed in better then what I had requested!
