Hey guys. Well, I'll cut to the chase. My 8 year old brother Daniel is reeeeally sick tonight. He was up all last night with a terrible cough, causing me to sleep downstairs because I needed a good nights sleep for a long day today. I thought he'd be fine by today, but he's been coughing even worse and sleeping nonstop. My dad just took his temperature, and he's got a 105 going on 106 fever, which is pretty darn bad. Now, there's a catch. Daniel is Autistic, so he basically has no idea what's going on. There's no way we could take him to the hospital, I mean, he wouldn't let the doctors do anything to him, he'd put up such a fight. My parents are calling every doctor they know, and trying to throw medicine into his juice, which he refuses to drink. So I'm freaking out, because when I was little, I used to worry myself sick when he got sick. So all of it is catching up with me now, and I'm afraid something's going to happen to him. I mean, he won't, I repeat won't, take any medicine, and his temp. gets worse by the second. So if our family could have some prayers please, all of my childhood memories that I tried to drown out are coming back, and on top of that, I'm scared for my little brother. Thanks so much in advance. I knew I could turn to you guys

Wow............. I'm sorry yall have my prayers and PD.
have yall tried scaring him into taking his medicine with the concept of his death if he doesn't take the medicine? I KNOW it seems mean but yea.

We haven't. It's a good idea, but he doesn't really understand the concept of death. Strange, but that's the deal with kids like him. And it's like an instinct. It's not like he completely doesn't want to take the medicine, but there's something in him that shoos it aways. My mom just ran out to the store to get more Advil and junk. I really wanted to spend the night at my grandma's who lives nearby, you know, to escape the hectic stuff going on here. But my dad was like, "No, she needs to help like the rest of us!" True, but right now, there's not much any of us can do. Thank you guys so much for the prayers! I'm gonna try to get some kind of sleep, I'll report in the morning :)

Bless your soul!!!

My brother is Autisitic so I kinda get where you are coming from.

Hope everything turns out alright :goodvibes

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Hang in there, you and your brother are both going to be fine.

Thanks guys! Daniel's gotten better now, his fever's gone. His only problem is that he's coughing up a storm, and he lost his voice. I slept downstairs last night, so I got sleep, but my poor parents need a rest, so I'll have to take over watching him soon. And thanks again for your prayers, they really worked. Love to you all :thumbsup2

 pixiedust: More prayers and pixie dust still coming your way...I hope he gets better soon, but very glad his fever is gone!

Still keep us posted!

Also  + pixiedust: for you for being a wonderful sister.

I'm so glad all is well... When I read your post I remembered something I saw at a local pharmacy (unfortunately I don't remember which one). They can put medicine into lollypop form for difficult children. I'll bet this is worth a shot for your brother. By the way I work in a school and we have 2 autistic classrooms so I know where you are comming from. Also, I thought I would pass this on to you to put your mind at ease a bit....When my daughter was little I used to worry about fevers and give medicine to bring it down at first sign. Then the ped. explained to me how a fever is actually a good sign that the body is fighting the infection and that I should only give meds when the child is uncomfortable and not to try to reduce every fever. Seems your brother's case proves it right. His fever spiked and then came down on its own. Nature is a wonderful thing. I'll continue to pray for your brother and for you. Your family is very fortunate to have such a caring brother and son. :grouphug:
