Driving down to WDW for Christmas week, wife, DD2 and myself, driving down straight thru.. Leaving 12/25, returning 1/2..

Already paid:

7 nights @VWL
2 7 day, MYW with hopper option..
$200 BP Amoco gas card

We have ADR's for LTT dinner, Sci-Fi lunch, 50's dinner, Kona dinner and Boma breakfast...

Can we do meals and gifts for $1000???

I think you will have a great trip on $1K.

We are a family of 4 and it is very easy for us and that is including Character Meals and TS.

We don't eat TS every day, only because our Ds's dont like to and we eat breakfast in and normally have late lunches.

I don't think you will have to do much finagling with 2 people and your budget though.

As long as you keep your souvenirs out of the swaroski crystal range, you should be okay. :goodvibes

I definitely think you will be able to do it on $1K! It's technically only the two of you eating meals (dd2 can eat off of your plates). If you don't do elaborate TS meals each day, you will be FINE. HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!!!

You should be fine. You'll probably need to do mostly CS breakfasts, try to make you big meal lunch most days if you want to do one TS per day. You should have about $300-400 for gifts.

And having your car--will be great you can eat off-site if you choose; But with 2 adults and your little one being able to eat free at the buffets and eat off your plate at TS--you'll be doing fine. You can also stop into the nearest Publix for snacks if you wanted.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!

I think you can do it under a thousand dollars but I hope you are not actually taking one thousand dollars in cash with you. Please get travelers checks or something similar if you don't want to put any charges on your credit card. However, you should have one credit card with you just in case of emergency's, a tire gets a flat, etc.

Also, I don't know how Disney is about checking in without a credit card even if the room is paid for. I am sure someone else can answer that question for you but I think they require one for incidentals like phone calls, etc. I have always charged everything and walk around with very little cash at Disney.

Also, I believe you can put money down for your room charge card and not have to walk around with much cash either. Again, I am sure others can tell you exactly how that works out.

Have Fun, we will be there ourselves.

Happy New Year

On our last 3 Disney trips, we averaged between $17 and $20 per person per day for food, so roughly $540 for 9 days. With a 2-yo, it would be less than with our now 10-yo. That leaves you over $400 for souvenirs. That should be plenty.

Your fuel costs may not be totally covered by the BP card. For example you may not find a BP when you need fuel or depending on what you are driving your fuel costs may exceed $200. Knowing the year, make and model of your vehicle you can figure fuel costs on this site
For Chicago to Orlando you need to get 22 mpg to stay under $200. Also don't forget to add in extra fuel if you plan on driving around off-site.

Have you drove straight through with your child before? I'd suggest stopping overnight with a child as young as yours to save your sanity and her comfort. ;)

1k? with most stuff paid for? you will easily coast through the week and have a bunch of money left over to put towards your next trip (assuming you aren't going crazy at signature and other sit down restaurants).

I went back and read some of your other posts and I think you might want to be prepared for your wife to need to stop for the night. Her expecting and your DD being 2 sounds like a definite need for an overnight stop.

Also, don't forget road conditions weather-wise may not be all that great and you may be forced to stop somewhere. I hope you have some sort of CC on hand to pay for any emergency that may occur. Only having that $1000 in your situation is frightening to me.
