hi.. i am going to wdw mid october and thought the fort wilderness campfire and movies would be nice to do , but we are staying offsite at a non disney hotel.... could we do this or not...?? thanks:earsgirl:

ABSOLUTELY! We did it last week while we were staying at the Pop Century. We drove our rental car to the post at Fort Wilderness. Then you have to take a bus to the campfire. The kids really enjoyed it. One tip though, bring big spray. We were eaten up while we were there!!!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I don't think so, unless you are staying on Disney property, but then again, I'm not a Disney expert yet. ;) That's why I love this board so much, there's so much to learn!

The "official" policy is that the "Campfire Program is free and open to all WDW World Resort Guests". But, there is nobody there checking ID's, so I'm sure plenty of off-site people go too. :)

BTW, does anyone know what days and times the campfire runs and how long does it last? thanks..... leaving for WDW in one week!!!!:Pinkbounc

I called Ft. Wilderness today and they informed me that the campfire is every night at 8:00 and lasts about 30-40 minutes and the movie starts at 8:45.
Hope this helps. ::MinnieMo

And it's tons of fun. We don't have kids and we enjoyed it. If you're staying at one of the resorts, you can do it. I even think it would be easy for anyone to do it because I don't recall them checking resort id's when we went.

We are planning on staying at ASM and would love to go to a campfire, is there a charge for it? What is it like?

Very cool. I just assumed that you had to be staying at Ft. Wilderness to go to the Camp Fire.
We are staying at Pop in November and might just have to give this a try.
Thanks

I understand the AKL also has something similar.. a storytelling by the campfire, right? I'm guessing this will be open to all as well. Anyone know the time of it and some more details?

When we stayed at AKL last summer (2003) I believe it was at 6:00 right outside the lobby door. It is worth the trip to just see the lodge, and if you are there anyway I'd definitely check out the storytelling, although its not something I would drive across the "World" to hear. If I were you, I'd couple it with dinner at Boma!

Thanks Samsma :)

That sounds like a lovely plan. I'll run it by DH!
