We are going to Universal for the two days before our December cruise. We are staying onsite at RPR, so we will have the Express Pass. Flight is scheduled to land at 10:25AM, so with taking a taxi I would hope to be checked into the hotel by noon. We will have that arrival day, Friday the 6th and all day Saturday the 7th to do Universal. Thoughts on game plan for getting everything done?

since you are staying onsite and can use the express lines, you won't have any issues with waits.

the first week of december has low crowds.
not sure how that saturday will be.
if the weather is great, many locals will be out there.

you can get a lot covered by using the express lines and early entry for saturday.

check on line at www.universalorlando.com and pull up the park maps.
familiarize yourself with their layouts and locations of rides, shows, restrooms, etc.

if you want to see some of the shows, check the time schedule so you can rearrange your place in the parks to see them.

this will keep you from backtracking and keep you on track.

will your trip be adults?
children?

Two adults. Just me and my fiance, but soon to be husband. We are sailing on a Royal Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon and flying in two days early to do Universal since it has been YEARS since I have been and he has never been.

I don't know how many shows we will want to do, although if there are ones you recommend, I would love any and all input!

Much appreciated :)

Horror Make Up Show is a hoot and a half, located at the studios.

Blues Brothers Show is outdoors, studios also.

if you like animals, Animal Actor show is decent.

over at IOA, i always watch the Super Heros parade.....as they arrive into marvel land for the meet and greet.

many will boo and hiss at me for saying this, Sinbad Show.
i always root for the bad guys in the show.......

there are other shows in the parks but just starting out slowly for you......

I really appreciate all of the input! I can plan a Disney trip in the blink of an eye, but I feel like I am going in totally blind to this one!

check out the website link to UO that i listed in my above post.

it will give you info on the rides and shows in both parks.

it always over whelming when a person ventures to a new park.
so much to learn in advance.
when you view the set up in the parks, it's less stressfull than going in without any back up info.

utlize the early entry and the unlimited usage for the express lines.

shows have express lines also.

What can you tell me about the Cinematic night show? Do we need to plan on doing the dining package to get a seat? I would rather not blow $90+ just to do that, but if we will miss out otherwise, I'll do it if I have to.

We did start looking at the maps yesterday, and it made us even more excited than we were before :cloud9:

You can see the show from anywhere around the lagoon so save your money. Just stand over near Mel's for the best viewing area.

Awesome, that is JUST what I wanted to hear. You guys are so awesome, I really do appreciate all of the advice :) I just want this to be the best start of a honeymoon ever!

Thanks, macraven! Now we just need to keep our fingers crossed that my cousin is able to get us some free passes, for extra pixie dust (yes I know, wrong park)

Just remember...at WDW its Pixie dust but at Universal its Mummy dust. ;)

I found Universal to be way less crowded. We were planning on only doing IOA, but the lady at the gate sold us on park to park...we were done with every ride in IOA except hulk...too small and HP...no interest from my kids(and I think the kids are too small for that) by 1. We even rode both water rides twice(and be prepared because in WDW you get splashed at IOA you get drowned rat soaked!!!) I was so glad we bought the hopper b/c then we did pretty much everything except Despicable Me(poor planning on my part) and a few I figured would scare the kids at Universal. We even did Shrek and ET twice. I found Universal to be a breath of fresh air! I loved the boardwalk area. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was. In a lot of ways it is better than WDW. Oh and the superheros coming out on their motorcycles for the meet and greets....the highlight of my ds's trip! They were awesome!!!

My mom and I did everything in a day and half after Spring Break crowds had left town in April. So yes it's definitely possible. Though if you want to do Wizarding World of Harry Potter do that first thing in the morning at IOA as it can still get pretty crowded when other parts of the park have light crowd traffic during the day.
