We just bought DVC, but are staying at CS in Aug because we closed too late to get a DVC ressie this year.

ANYWAY, we're buying APs for this trip (and got an AP discount on our room) and of course want the DVC discount for the APs.

I called MS to order them, and the CM said that even if I order them over the phone, I have to go to DTD or one of the parks to pick them up when we get there.

What a pain! Is that CM correct -- is there really no way we can get them before we go?? Can't we just vouchers mailed to us so we don't have to go to DTD or park after we've driven for 11 hours?

We don't want to pay for parking just pick up our tickets, and have no idea where DTD ticket place is-- I have looked all over the Disney site and can't find it.

Please help!

It's really not that difficult. If I remember correctly, you will get vouchers in the mail soon after purchasing the AP's. Once you get to WDW all you have to do is bring the vouchers with you the 1st time you go to a park or DTD and exchange them for actual tickets.

There shouldn't be any need to pay for parking or make a special trip just to get the tickets.

If you order them online, you can print out a voucher. However, you still have to stop at any ticket booth to redeem it for your AP.

You don't have to pay for parking as DVC members. Just flash your membership card.

Free parking at the theme parks is not a DVC member benefit. AP holders and on-site resort guests do get free parking.

Thanks. How do we order them online and get the AP discount?

Your AP is activated at the time you purchase it or exchange your voucher for it. So if MS sent you the actual AP instead of a voucher, you wouldn't get a full year's use out of it.

As others have said, exchanging the voucher for the actual AP is easy. Just be sure to bring your DVC membership card and photo IDs for each adult that show that you all live at the same address. The same applies if you decide to wait and just purchase the AP once you get there -- you will need your DVC membership card and photo IDs.

I think you get 24 hours from check in to show them your AP
BTW I have never been asked for my AP

maybe it has changed now this was about 3 years ago

You are an on-site guest if you're staying DVC. We were just there and got a parking pass for both DVC resorts we stayed at and therefore had free park parking. :confused3

Question about the photo id and address business - my DH and I will likely purchase DVC next month and of course will end up getting APs for when we visit. However, the address listed on my id is different from the address listed on his id. Its just the two of us in either household so we would only be purchasing 2 APs and both our names would be on the contract. I'd really hate to have to change the address on the id for the trip, then change it back once we got home.

You got free parking at the theme parks because you were a resort guest.

MrDVC said you just had to show your dvc membership card to get free parking. That's not correct. A dvc member staying off-site is not entitled to free parking at a theme park. An ap holder can park for free if staying off-site.

Just use your correct addresses listed on the ids. There is no need for the addresses to match as every AP is a separate transaction. You do need your member card to obtain the discount. Will you have separate addresses for your DVC purchase? I suppose there could be a problem if the address on the contract doesn't match the id???

If interested in purchasing DDE and you want to purchase a second card, the addresses are supposed to be the same. Don't know what they'd do in a case like yours...maybe fax a copy of your wedding license? Of course, I think many people don't bother with a second DDE card now that there's an extra charge.

Ah I wasn't aware that everyone on the contract should have the same address. We had also contemplated the idea of purchasing with my mother so we could get more points at one time, but she definitely doesn't live with us.

Every one listed on the contract as a purchaser will get there own membership card. The address shouldn't matter. There are members on these boards that have adult children on the contract that don't live when them. They all get membership cards and full member benefits.

Jax - that's great to hear. As long as DH and I have separate member cards there won't be an AP problem - I give my card, show ID get an AP, DH shows his card, shows his ID gets his AP (we aren't getting APs for other people in the household since there aren't any) And if mom decides to contribute financially and gets on the contract then I'm guessing she shouldn't have problem either.

No, I didn't mean everyone on the contract had to have the same address. I meant that perhaps your address on the contract must match your address on your id to obtain the discount.

Edited to add that far more importantly your address on your id should/must match your contract anyway. Don't we have to submit copies of our ids when we purchase?

If your mom is a co-owner (not just an associate member) with you and your DH then she will get a DVC Member card. She will need to show her member card and a photo ID to get her AP.

Where the "same address" comes in is if a DVC member wants to purchase an AP for an adult living in the same household who is not a co-owner (an adult child, for example or any other relative living under the same roof). In that case, the owner presents his/her DVC Member card, a photo ID and a photo ID for the non-owning adult to show that that non-owner lives at the same address.
