Or order off the dinner menu(during lunch)at the table service restaurants?
Specifically wondering about Coral Reef.

I tried to last summer and was told no. I wanted the shrimp pasta dish on the dinner menu and was there during lunch. They told me I could only order what was on the lunch menu. Some other places might be flexible, but CR was not. You should still certainly ask, but be prepared to make another choice from the lunch menu.

It depends on how far off menu you need to order. If it is making a small change to a dish, no problem. If you are expecting the restaurant to make you your own special meal than that may be a bit more difficult. Disney goes out of their way to please diners but they can only do so much. It also depends on how busy it is, which with Disney is almost always very busy.

Like the PP said tell us more and we can help more.

Well, the question as I read it was can they order from the dinner menu, but at lunchtime.

I know that at DLR you can't do that, and at many normal restaurants you can't, b/c the other-meal-food just isn't prepped.

But that seems to be the question, and if I had been to WDW I might be able to answer, but I haven't so I can't. :)

1) Almost always the answer is no.
2) Dinners are more expensive.
3) So, WDW would be giving more value away.

Sorry, I was in a hurry to leave the house, and wanted to get the question posted.

We have lunch reservations at Coral Reef. My husband wants nothing on the menu for lunch in particular after reviewing it, but saw a dish on the dinner menu that he would love to try. We are going Easter week, so chances of changing to another restaurant are getting slimmer everyday, so he asked me to post and see if it is allowed.

We would never assume that we would not be required to pay the full dinner price if they did do that.

If I were allowed to order off a dinner menu at lunch time I would expect to pay the dinner price. Would a restaurant really reduce the price of an item because of the time of day?
