Hi Guys

I'm hoping there might be someone who knows Manchester out there and can give me some help.

Im in charge of our works weekend away - there are 19 teachers heading to Manchester in March - beware:rotfl:

we r booked in the cental Travellodge and have our train tickets but thats about it.

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant we could book for an evening meal and also tell us where the best/ safest bars are?

I would really appreciate any help

Thanks:confused:

The Printworks is an entertainment complex in a central position. It comprises several bars, restaurants (Hard Rock Cafe, Wagamama, Nando's etc.), a couple of night clubs and a big Odeon cinema. It is very close to the hotel you are staying at. :thumbsup2

No problem. :)

Yeah, Canal Street/Gay Village can be fun, although some of the bars are pretty expensive. The atmosphere is usually quite raucous: think big, noisy groups and drag queens! :rotfl: It's a fair distance from your hotel but easy enough in a taxi (approx. £7-£8).

you wouldn't need a taxi, we often walk that route ... its a nice safe walk through the centre of town (although its far enough we grabbed a taxi in the pouring rain) ... I love Poptastic for cheesy pop on a Saturday night!

Foodwise ... Chaophraya Thai is fantastic, Yang Sing Chinese is also rated (but not cheap)

I disagree. The central Travelodge is almost in Salford, it would take quite a while to walk to the Village- especially in heels! A taxi makes more sense for the OP and her group anyway, as they don't know the city.

fair enough ... we've stayed there a few times and always walked (except that once it was pouring down) but take your point about the heels ... I'm always in flats!

Thank you for all the help.
We are looking into booking Hard Rock Cafe for a meal then drinking in / near the printworks.
Can you recommend any of the bars in or near printworks?

oh and there will be a lot of heels so the less walking the better ;)

I haven't been to Cloud 23 but I know that you have to pre-book a table (yes, even for drinks!), so make sure you do that. Also, it's on the outskirts of the main city centre, right at the bottom of Deansgate. :thumbsup2

As for bars in/near the Printworks, it depends on what kind of night you want. The Birdcage is a night club opposite the complex and it's supposedly a lot of fun (I haven't been).

Ah, well that's very handy then! It's an impressive hotel, I'm sure you will enjoy it. If you have any questions about Manchester, ask away. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions , either in printworks or northern quarter is there an 80's bar? Ok now I'm showing my age lol x
