Can TS dining credits be used for CS? (Really!)

In trying to get the best bang for our Disney bucks, I am torn with the possibility of free dining versus a (hopefully it will come soon) room only PIN discount. We plan to stay at a moderate for 8 nights. We are a we-don't-want-table-service-every-day family but do plan to do one or two character meals. Are we able to use the remaining table service credits at quick service locations? If so, at the resort food courts AND parks or just resorts? I know this seems like a waste of free dining but we feel too structured and interrupted with an ADR every day...and don't know that there will be a room only discount anyway. Does anyone have experience with this?

Yes they can. It was officially written into the 2012 DDP Brochure that you can use TS credits for CS meals if you so choose.

Excellent! I thought it could be done, but in Dec 2011, on our last day when trying to use a remaining TS credit for my wonderful ham and cheese croissant meal at Boulangerie Pâtisserie the CM checking me out said she had no way to redeem a TS credit. Glad to know it is now in the brochure. That makes a big difference when doing the math for free dining versus room only discount for our family. Thanks for digging up the the info!
