Hi: Just wondering if three people on the dining plan can order two meals and share with the third person. Dd does not eat much so I thought her and I could share a tableservice meal. All three of us are on the diningplan

Deb.

Hmm...I was sure you couldn't share your meals. I cannot get on Disney site from here (work). you may want to go there to check out officially.

You can usually share your meal with another member of your party also on the Disney Dining Plan.

You cannot share your food, or your DDP credits, with any Guest not participating in the plan.

Found it...it is in the stickey labelled 2008 Dining Plan FAQ, you can click the link there and also look at the brochure

"Can I share meals on the Dining Plan?
Sharing is never permitted at buffet or prix fixe meals. Beyond that, this is actually two separate questions, addressed below...

Can I share meals with guests not on the Dining Plan?
No. The Dining Plan cannot be shared with guests who aren't registered as part of your hotel reservation.

Can I share meals with other guests on the Dining Plan staying on the same hotel reservation?
There is no clear answer to this. Consistently, guests seem to be allowed to share the meals ordered on the Dining Plan amongst the guests at their table, with the exception of fixed price meals, such as buffets or other all-you-can-eat options. However, this question was been asked directly to Disney via email, by a number of guests, and consistently, they have answered this question by saying specifically that, "sharing is not permitted." Despite several attempts to get clarification about that statement, no clarification appears to be forthcoming from Guest Communications, and nothing official has been released by Disney Dining to resolve the confusion."

Hope this helps. I know that some people have experienced where they could share and others not. I guess you could just ask when you get there, as long as you have no expectations you avoid any disappointment and frustration.

Another early person like me??? or should I say night owl....I am working nights so at least I am getting paid while staying awake...LOL

Nah, I just couldn't sleep. And I love to show off my extensive knowledge :lmao:, even if that means getting up in the middle of the night to post while everyone else in the DIS is asleep...

I know you can't share with another person not on the DDP. The OP was asking about sharing with her traveling party who will all be on the DDP. My experience from one month ago is that sharing is allowed at non-buffet restaurants.

Thanks for your up-to-date actual experience, klynn!

Hodder (I think) and I were just trying to answer all possible versions of the OP's question.

well, my understanding is, at least in my situation, I can share.
We have 2 adults, & 3 children.......2 kids are on the plan. My youngest will not be 3 yet, so I can share with her.

As far as meaning, for example, can dh & I & my son get food, but not my dd......can she share with us & save her 'credit'? That I don't know.

I actually asked this question this morning when I booked ADRs. We're on the DDP and there for 6 full days but 5 nights so need to stretch out a couple of TSs and CSs to avoid being OOP. CM said we can share meals when ordering off menus. So it is only not allowed at buffets and other fixed priced restaurants like shows and the Fantasmic Dining Package.

How would the server know if you were sharing with someone who wasn't on the DP until after the food was shared and the check was presented?

When we were there last month, every server always looked at our card before we ordered.

Our family of 6 requires us to book two rooms, so we always have two sets of cards. With 4 children, 2 of the considered adults, many times we have ordered only 5 meals for 6 people. Obviously the entire family had the DDP and the cards confirmed the information, I just explained upon ordering the meal what were our intentions and we never had a problem. (Of course, Ordering off the menu restaurants and not pre fixed or buffets .)

I just tipped accordingly for the six of us at the end of the meal.

You should have no problem.
