We would like to plan a trip for next Spring break, which for us happens to fall at Easter next year.

Our home resort is OKW & we've always stayed there. We would like to try somewhere else, but don't want to get shut out of staying at DVC at all.

Can I book at OKW using the 11 month window & then try to change my ressie to another place at the 7 month window? Are you allowed to do that?

If not, what's the best way to handle this?

You are absolutely allowed to do that, and is what many folks recommend.

Thanks. I thought so but wanted to confirm.

You mean, cancel and re-book at 7 months.

Make sure that the MS Advisor holds the new reservation before they cancel the old. I have read that someone lost their new reservation while waiting for the Advisor to cancel the old and make the new.

Thanks for the tip. That is good to know.

Yes, there should be availability at the 7 month window if you're flexible. We went during our Spring Break this year, which was also Easter, and I booked a 2-BR at SSR at the 5 month window. Nothing else was available, and that was okay. I love OKW and SSR, so I'm never disappointed if those are my only options!!! :cloud9:

Just be prepared, as other DVC units are noticably smaller than OKW. BIL/SIL did the exact same thing last month and stayed at SSR and commented often on how much smaller the rooms are. They are a family of 5 and in OKW, there's a couch, loveseat and chair and at SSR, there's a couch and a chair. They didn't feel it gave them enough space.

For me, I love the change. Each resort provides a totally different experience and there are things I like and would change if I could. If you keep an open mind, I think you'll have a wonderful time!!! I'm glad we branched out, as I haven't stayed at a DVC I haven't liked. Of the 8 DVC resorts, we've stayed at 3, will be staying at a different one in Aug and just purchased a VB contract. We're making the rounds quickly, and I'm LOVING it!!!

yes you can just keep in mind your points may differ if you get into a new place
