We are thinking about going back in January since we loved it there this past january. We are hoping for free dinning again before we decide. Our son will be 3 by the time we go so this time we will need to pay for tickets for him. I was playing around and put that my son was 10 instead of 3 and saw that I would have to pay for adult tickets but, than saw that he would get an adult meal plan for only 20.00 more for the week (asumming free dinning). This would be great if it can be done since it would give him more choices. Can this be done? I was going to call Disney but, was waiting to see what the rates where before i did anything.

I think I've read about people doing this when they actually pay for their dining plan, but not for a child so young. Think about it this way, if you were to tell Disney that your little guy is 10 years old now, he goes into their computers as having a date of birth that falls somewhere in 2001-2002. In eight years, when he really is 10, the Disney computer will have him listed as an extra adult in the room because they will think that he is over 17.

And since people abused free dining in the past by registering phantom children who were 10 or older just to get additional adult dining credits it's not unusual for CMs to ask to see all the children when checking a family in during free dining. They would probably be able to tell than your son is not really 10.

Call about it, but I'm pretty sure you can pay to "upgrade" a child to the adult dining--you just also need to pay for an adult park ticket--I don't think you need to tell them they are over 10 to do that-I think you can just upgrade like those that get the CS for "free" but upgrade to TS.

Only thing I'd add is that unless you're going to pool the adult credits and sometimes use them for yourself and DH (which I don't think is a problem--you'll pay for the adult park pass with it), I'd be surprised if you really need it. I had hearty and precocious eaters, but even they were fine with the kids meals--you can get around nuggets and burgers at every meal.

Good luck!
