can this be done? pool "hopping" question....

I routinely have different people coming to stay with me at Disney. I max out the room keys with the original people staying there, and then they just leave their keys and parking passes for the next people when the next group arrives.

I'd just do middle names of people. You are allowed to have x people in the room and that number of keys for them.

The problem is that you explained to them exactly what you wanted to do...too much info.

Explained too much to who? I didn't explain my plan to anybody, i was just asking if this was doable. I didn't call and discuss this with MS.

Call Member Services and ask what you need to do to be able to accomplish this, if they say you can't add people to your villa who are staying somewhere else, then it is not legit regardless of how any of us feel about it. .

But using this thread as a gauge I might call 3 times and get 3 different answers. That's why sometimes it's good to assess peoples experiences.

If they do, then add them and enjoy the pool. That was my point.

Really, cause it sounded more like your point was that SAB was overrated so I shouldn't even bother and should just hop over at BWV.

I do know due to the fact I have firefighters in our family, that hotels like to have an accurate count of how many are actually in a room and even names for emergency situations such as fires.

You seem pretty determined to find some way to find wrongdoing in what I am asking, I am not looking for a way to break rules but am simply asking if anybody has done this and if it works.

The only problem with simply calling or asking at check in is you might get a random answer, like the answer some have gotten from MS lately saying that renting is against the rules. I agree it's still a good starting point but not necessarily the end point.

Exactly, well said.

I am not trying to find fault with anything, just sharing my opinion, which when you post on a forum that is public, you get opinions when you ask a question.

You have to also realize that when you post a question on a forum, some replies including mine, were comments generated by comments made by others such as simply change everyone's name. You also get suggestions on ways to circumvent policy, which to me changing names is. That is not a comment to you personally, but to those that suggesting name changing, or only using middle names.

Do I personally think SAB is overrated yes I do. If you don't agree that is fine. I suggested BW because you can go over there without having to get permission from anyone.

You have stated yourself that if you contact DVC or Disney you might get different answers, which is also the same if anyone tells you what their experience has been. Just because they were allowed or not does not mean the next guest will.

That is why I would ask when you check in. Because truly the resort and those that manage SAB should have the final say and many times it depends on occupancy levels for that day.

I agree it's still a good starting point but not necessarily the end point. There are also reasons for rules, likely in the case being discussed, related to the Dining Plan and related programs. In the example I listed previously, my need was to be able to check in to all 9 units and to pay the $95 resort services fee myself. I didn't need to be listed in the unit otherwise. I told MS what I needed and they worked it out so that I could check in without being listed as an occupant. Sometimes "rules" take on a mind of their own. We see it all the time with our organization where rules are misunderstood or even made up, in either case, they tend to take on a life of their own over time. About every other planning meeting we find ourselves dealing with such a situation, sometimes having to go back and see what the actual agreed upon rules are.

Understood which is why I think asking at check in would be the best solution as the Recreation Manager is truly the person who can make the decision based on occupancy at that time.

Obviously one has to deal with this issue to a degree at check in, however, leaving everything to chance based on the whim of the CM and possibly the manager on duty, is quite risky. Disney is extremely inconsistent in general, esp on these type of matters. Getting to the heart of the matter and getting a definitive answer much earlier is a better choice, IMO. This might be an issue one would have to deal with at a level higher than MS and the supervisor's there. Personally, in the absence of a definitive answer in the affirmative at the MS level, I'd deal with DVC senior management on this issue and request a written copy of the policy along with an explanation of the reasoning if it got that far and it was important to me. At this point we don't truly know what the actual rule is.

Really Sammie, come on. I asked a specific question about performing a specific action, you don't have an answer but have given the following commentary and I'm supposed to believe you're not trying to find fault? Judge for yourself:

Do I personally think SAB is overrated yes I do. If you don't agree that is fine.

I have a serious thing about Karma

Call me crazy, but these sound like the comments of somebody who is trying to find fault with my intentions!!!

No, those who manage SAB have nothing to do with this, nor do the SAB occupancy levels come in to play. I would not be exceeding the occupancy levels because they would have to be based on a full resort, and I would be within my allowed occupancy levels in the villas I have rented. If these guests were sleeping in my room (and they would be ALLOWED to), would I be exceeding occupancy levels if we all went to SAB? No.

I think this is what it boils down to. If you were trying to think of a sneaky way to get the BWV people into SAB even though you were at occupancy with your BCV rooms, that would be one thing. You could legitimately move all but one name in the BWV room over to the BCV rooms and all of a sudden it's okay. According to occupancy, you're allowed 12 people into SAB, so why is bringing those 12 people in an issue? :confused3
