Mind you we like to eat and like a variety of spots. But on our recent trip there seemed to be a restaurant every 50 feet or so. Or at least it seemed.

Bongos, Splittsville, House of Blues, Pucks, Paridiso, Boathouse, Morimotos, the new steak house that just opened--and a # of others.

Are they over-doing things???

I wonder if they will start putting each other out of business---

Visitors to Disney Springs are not in short supply, and the idea is for Disney Springs to be even more of a destination than it was as Downtown Disney. That stuff is there to also draw in locals who are looking to go out to dinner or go shopping. I also know many people who visit Orlando and the surrounding areas but do not visit Disney Parks. They do, however, go to Disney Springs to still get some kind of "Disney" experience. So with all those things in mind, no, I do not think there are too many restaurants in DS.

Good question Unc! We were just at DS last week to check out the newly opened section. We actually did like the new food offerings though and I'm hoping that some level of "competition" will make things even better for us. Of course, as locals we more likely will eat at other off property places, but we do enjoy several of the on property restaurants as well.

I thought the same thing when I saw what they planned to open, but then I remembered the ridiculous wait times at places like T-Rex, Fulton's, Wolfgang Puck Express and even Earl of Sandwich. So if it will thin those crowds out and give people "walk-up" options where you don't have to wait an hour and a half, I'm all for it.

People still go out to eat, restaurants are becoming the only sustainable retail as everyone does their shopping online.

But, as noted above, with the huge WDW room capacity, and the local population, there is rarely any shortage of diners for DTD/Disney Springs. There will be restaurants that go out of business, but it'll be from lack of appeal.

I've been wondering the same thing lately. I think the idea for Disney Springs is that they're trying to make it more of an attraction for locals AND tourists than Downtown Disney was. I guess with local traffic it might be enough to fill it. It's exciting but as someone who wants to experience absolutely everything it's getting tougher and tougher with place after place opening over there!!!! : D

I know that it's been a little more difficult when planning dinners for our Sept trip. Do we want to try STK or stick with Boathouse? What about Florida Kitchen-will it even be open then, will it take the dining plan? There are also our favorites that we don't want to let go of and Tiffins now to try out. It's always been a little bit tough to narrow down the choices, and this is certainly adding to it!

I'm excited about it, more choices and variety is a good thing. I just need more money for a longer stay!!!

I totally agree with this! I'm also debating between STK and Boathouse... Trying to get comparisons but haven't had any luck. Also wanted to try Florida Kitchen... I see it's supposed to open in the summer.... :) Hopefully more info comes out soon!

All personal opinion, I'm not right, others may disagree....

Yes. To us PERSONALLY - too many of the wrong kind of Restaurants. We have been waiting to see true SIGNATURE restaurants appear. To us? That's not happening (with the possible exception of STK). PERSONALLY - we are not impressed with Boathouse, or Morimoto's. We look forward to seeing what "Paddlefish" WILL become. But we are PERSONALLY just not interested in the rest.

ALL of this is personal taste. One of our main objectives, twice per year, is to get OUT of our little Home Town, and go to really GOOD Restaurants. For us? Grabbing a "Gourmet Burger", or a Pizza, is something we can do HERE. Now, that's just us.... as a retired Father of 4? I GET that WDW needs mass feeding stations :).

Glad to see Uncleromulous posting - I have always enjoyed your posts! I guess for me, even though I am a bit overwhelmed by all the choices (I started a thread about that last week), I am glad for the different places, especially the CS places.

But in a non-Disney environment, all these restaurants in the same area would result in competitive pricing, no? Something tells me that won't be the case for Disney Springs!

Just curious @Dean Marino

Just curious @Dean Marino , what was your experience at Boathouse? I was considering this besides STK so I was wondering... :)

I don't know exactly which ones, but I believe many DS restaurants are not Disney owned.

I wonder as well but I think the increased variety of choices and competition is a good thing. Perhaps it may also free up some availability at other popular WDW restaurants
