I caught the end of a ticker watching the news this morning and it said that Walt Disney Company will be announcing spending $425 million on a new theme park. I am not sure which park, or if it pertained to DCA that I know they are refurbishing. Does anyone know anything about this?

Update: Nevermind, I snooped around and saw this

seems Hong Kong is getting updated.....oh well got all excited for nothing

the news is that they've agreed to invest $452 million into the existing Hong Kong Disneyland, which will yield it 30 more attractions and 3 more lands.

In addition, the purchase will double the size of Hong Kong Disney. This was done in an effort to compete with Bejing Disney when that place opens. Got this all from Jim Hill.

On a similar subject, does anybody know what the HUGE construction project is that's down the road from Port Orleans? When you come to the end of the road Port Orleans is on, you turn left to go to MK. At that point there is significant construction going on. What have I missed in the rumor mill while I was on vacation??

That's where they're building the new Four Seasons resort.

I've moved this thread to the Rumors and News board. :)

I just returned from Disneyworld, where an employee volunteered the information that a new Disneyworld theme park was under construction. He said the management had admitted this to them, but had not released any details yet. Details where expected later this year.

Believe what you will, but he stated this in front of 40 other people who all heard and asked questions.

Extremely doubtful, even if he said in front of a 1000 people.

WDW employees are famous for starting mostly false rumors. However, there reportedly is a 5th park in development. It's doubtful that they would have already started construction. Maybe, they meant there was one in development and waiting to be greenlit. Time will tell.:hippie:

All you have to do is take a look on Google earth to see there is no construction other than what has already been announced.

Google earth, I believe is not time sensitive {current views} they are a few years behind.

Google Earth images can be years old, don't rely on it to give you updated info, some are still in B&W in some areas.

I'll take Google Earth over "a CM said so" anyday! :lmao:

I read a post a few months ago on some Disney site that said that there is massive land clearing south of the Magic Kingdom and north of Animal Kingdom. They said that it wasn't any of the projects already announced. They said that the project was on a "need to know" basis. They didn't say what it was, but they hinted that it might be a new park. If it is, it won't be Night Kingdom/Jungle Trek or the villains park, or so I've read on another site. However, I doubt that it is a new park. Time will tell.:hippie:

I now predict that Disney's 5th theme park will be named : Disney's Floridian Adventure. Main E-ticket ride: gator wrestling.

And I now predict that Disney's 5th theme park will be named: " Ain't gonna happen, cause Disney's too cheap to spend the $$$$ in Florida" ;)

I wouldn't be surprised to see a premium priced limited capacity 1 day "experience" theme park on the lines of Discovery Cove, which has been very successful despite costing something like $300 for a day (don't quote me, but its expensive!). I think any new WDW theme Park would be additional cost to enter - there'd be no point them including it in the normal ticket price otherwise they wouldn't gain much additional revenue.

Is it possible that maybe they would increase size of Wide World of Sports with the new ESPN background and make a sports influence theme park. Not saying it would be a good idea just throwing it out there.

Please Disney, No Sports Theme Park, where would the story be in that? I've heard one interesting rumor, though, about them considering turning Beastly Kingdom into a theme park. It could be really interesting if they folded the Dark Kingdom (Villain) park idea into Beastly Kingdom. The original plan for BK at DAK was that it would have two sections - one would be light (unicorns, fauns) and the other would be dark (dragons,etc.).:hippie:
