how you find the info on what setting was for each pic? I can find it ON my camera when I take the picture, but after it's uploaded to my computer I don't know where to look (and it's been erased off the camera now)

I took this picture the other day, indoors, bad lighting, and I either had it on P or auto-no flash and for the lighting, it came out well (almost all the other pictures were bad) and I want to find out what the camera did so I can do it myself!

Many different software that you use to process you images will give you the EXIF or metadata for the image. You can also download a free program from opanda, just google it, that will give you the info. Opanda only works on a windows machine. Google exif for a mac and there are programs for that platform as well.

I think I found it under properties/details when I click on the pic, but it won't let me copy and paste it. (just an FYI for anyone else like me who is just starting out and can't find it! LOL)

In photoshop you can go to File --> File Info and find your exif data there. In Lightroom, your exif data shows up right there when you click on the individual picture in your library.

If you upload to either Flickr or Photobucket, you can pull the exif data from there as well.

I like using Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) the best for viewing photos. If you also download the plugins from that page, you can press "E" (for Exif, or go through the drop-down menus) and it will show you all the details.

I believe the Microsoft Pro Photo Tools will allow you to see them in Windows Explorer, too.
