Can someone tell me what is different about a navigator's veranda vs. a regular one?

If I am correct, the Navigators verandah is completely enclosed like a porch, while the regular verandah is open, like a deck. I was going with the navigators verandah until I realized that I would not have the fresh air coming in.

While on the Disneycruise.com, go to the deck plan and click on deck 7 (I think) for navigator and deck 6 for regular.

You DO have fresh air on a navigators verandah! It's like a huge, OPEN porthole!

I don't think that the Navigator's verandah would be any more or less safe than a standard verandah. I think they are both very safe for kids, as long as you're out there with them. The lowest point on the Navigator's verandah is about the same level as the top of the railing on the regular verandah. The doors to the verandahs have locks near the top which young children would not be able to easily reach. In addition, the door hands are kind of tricky, so I think it would be hard for a young kid to get out there on his or her own.

Personally, I think a navigators verandah would be safer with children because the furniture is fixed in position. Therefore, they cannot easily move a chair to climb. However, with both types of verandahs the doors would be difficult for a child to open (the first time, it took hubby and I a while to figure it out ourselves!).

Thank you I am seriously wondeering what to do wht if the children are sleepig on the pull out and we are in the room even know the doors are difficult to open they could right? How high is the lowest part of either verandah. cAn you tell I am seriously paranoid

Can you get a 1 bedroom without a verandah?

We have had both types of verandahs.
The Navigator's Verandah is open to the air but only in the circular middle portion. It is surrounded by solid walls. Young children are unable to see through the solid walls and I was unhappy about that. I only had to envision my son standing on the built in bench leaning over to see the water one time to decide on the full verandah for our next cruise.

The full verandah is also open to the air and has a glass wall about 4 feet high to keep you and children from falling over! BUT you can see through it and the feeling of being one with the sea is worth the extra price.

That's the wonderful thing about choices. We just had a navigators veranda for the first time and I like it more than the regular. It has a more cozy feel to it, I didn't feel the wind as much, but I still got a great view and lots of fresh air. i also love the padded bench that they have on the navigators veranda. We were on the Wonder and our next trip is on the magic. I know that the opening is smaller on the Magic, but we loved the navigators veranda so much that is what we booked for our next cruise.

If you want the open view of the regular verandah, make sure to book a room in front of the navigator verandah rooms. The regular verandah rooms that are behind those have the full open top, but the railing is solid metal so smaller children still wouldn't be able to see the water without leaning over the top, or being lifted up. They aren't different other than from the railing down. It's just a matter of preference.

And remember...Navigator Verandah cabins only sleep 3. There are none that sleep 4.

Shaynajade - I don't think you need to worry at all about your kids getting out there while you are sleeping. I think you mentioned in another post that your oldest would be 3 when you cruise, right? The lock for the door is very, very high up. Even standing on a chair I don't think a 3yo would be able to even reach it, let alone work the tricky mechanism. And to answer your question, no...all 1br staterooms have a verandah. All Cat. 8-12 staterooms have no verandah and all Cat. 1-7 staterooms have verandahs.
