Can someone tell me about the drain lake at DCA?

It isn't pretty but it's progress. And yes, the rides on the pier are all still open......they won't close Screamin' because the water is gone, that wouldn't make sense.....

Not being a hydrolic engineer, I would think they would have to do the plumbing etc for the new water show or is that a pre-built stand alone that they would just palce in the lagoon??

I think the problem requiring draining is more electrical than hydraulic. There is an infrastructure needed that some imagineers argued for when the lagoon was first built but the accountants shot down due to cheapo budgets. Now it is much more expensive to go back and put it in. I read about it an Al Lutz article in 2007. I could not find the exact discussion which described the specifics of what needed to be done and the conflicts that led to the short-sighted decisions prior to DCA's opening in 2001.

Thanks for the info Trey. Still having typing(keying with this phone), can't spell.

I haven't been to Dl in about 12 years. Is the drained lake the same lake that is at the Disneyland Hotel??? We're going in September...looks as if I have a lot of homework to do!

No, this lake is in California Adventure. I actually haven't been over to DLH in years so don't know what it looks like now.

There is no lake at the DLH, this is the water over by the pier in CA.

There used to be big fountian or something there that "danced" to music at night. And you could drive boats on it. Years ago. :)

The one that's outside? It's not there anymore? I haven't walked over there in a couple years.

I remember the boats! When I was like 5 we stopped at the hotel to visit a family member and sat outside where the boat pond thing was. I never really remembered that till now! :rotfl:
