Can someone tell me about SUPER 8 on West Vine or HOMEWOOD SUITES on Palm Parkway?

Hi - I found what I think are some good rates on both

Super 8 on West Vine ($29/night for 2 double beds)

Homewood Suites on Palm Parkway ($66 1 bedroom suite + full b'fast)

I have never stayed at a Super 8 before and Homewood sounds nice. Of course we spend so little time in our hotel that I'd like to go as cheaply as possible but I need a clean place :)

Thanks everyone!

IMO, I wouldn't stay at the Super 8. Generally, there's a reason why it's SO cheap. :crazy2: Even though you're really not in the room much, it will be nice to come back to your hotel after a long, tiring day at the parks, and not have to worry about a disgusting bathroom or dirty beds. Ick.

If you want to see reviews on various hotels before you book, www.tripadvisor.com is a good one to check! :)

I've stayed in Super 8's before, but not in Orlando. Generally both times-- the beds were awfuly uncomfortable. That may not be the same for all though.

We have stayed at Homewood Suites. It was able to sleep the 6 of us. Bedroom had 2 beds (doubles I believe) and there was a double sofa sleeper in the living room, bathroom, and kitchenette. Since it was our first night and we arrived late (around midnight) we did not have reservations to stay at our disney resort until the following day. We had stopped at a Denny's in Orlando and picked up a magazine on hotels which had coupons and found Homewood Suites for $59 a night. Homewood Suites was on Palm Parkway which is a couple minutes to the entrance of Walt Disney World property. It was inexpensive, clean, and very convient for us. It did also include breakfast for the 6 of us. For the price, cleanliness and convience we could not have picked a better place to stay. Planning on maybe doing the same with our next trip. Best wishes!

I have stayed at some Super 8's and found them to be fine. They have been clean and comfortable. That particular Super 8 I don't know about other than it looks fine on the outside but it is too long of a drive to WDW IMO.

I've stayed at the Homewood Suites on Palm Parkway. We really liked it. It was clean, a small complex and the suites were fine. Two double beds in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living room. Kitchen was huge (not that I cooked ;)
Shuttle service was very restricted timewise and the breakfast was OK (not fantastic but very adequate).
It's a good deal for the price.

We stayed at the Homewood Suites on Palm Parkway in Jan 2002 and found it to be just great (especially for the price.) Two queen beds in bedroom plus full-sized pullout sofa and recliner. The room was not fancy, but clean and large enough to put the kids to bed and shut the door (which is what we wanted) and get re-grouped for the next day. We did eat a few dinners and evening snacks in our room and housekeeping loaded and ran our dishwasher for us each day. The kitchen was equipped enough for a few small meals. You did not have to "rent" the dishes as you have to at a few other "suite" hotels. At that time the bkfst buffet was mostly starches (cereal, bagels, waffles, muffins, toast, fruit), but it was more than adequate for our family. We ate bkfast there 6 out of 7 mornings (ate with Cinderella one morning!) We are planning a return there in Jan 2004, but were concerned about the bkfst, now that dh is on a low-carb diet. According to their website and their reservationist, the breakfast is now a hot, cooked full bkfst, including eggs, bacon, etc. That should satify the dh's diet just fine! We have called three different times about our reservation and our prices has gone from the originally stated $129/night down to $59/night currently! That is the price we paid in 01/2002. There are plenty of small markets, fast food places, and family restaurants on the "strip" near the hotel. I would certainly recommend it to anyone on a budget! Hope all this information helped...

We just stayed at the Homewood Suites in July 2003. Loved it! Our room was right next to the pool and lobby (great for the kids) Breakfast was pretty good. Eggs, bacon/sausage, frozen waffles/pancakes, bagels, toast, etc. The toasters got a little crowded. Juice, soft drinks and coffee available all day. Plus Mon thru Thurs around 5pm, they have a happy hour (free wine, beer and a light snack). That light snack was dinner a couple of times (soup and salad bar one night and taco bar another). We paid $61 a night for 6 of us. My only comment is the sofa bed is unbearably uncomfortable. We put the mattress on the floor, that helped some. Oh, the shuttle service, not so good! Would recommend driving to the park. Hope to stay there again next year. (couldn't get enough rooms for our large group at New Years).

WHOOPS! Sorry, but I misspoke... I stated on an earlier post that we had stayed at the Homewood Suites on Palm Parkway.... We actually stayed at the one in Kissimmee at Parkway Blvd. Sorry about that. But I would still highly recommend the one I stayed at. I believe it is actually closer to the WDW parks. But the Palm Parkway one is newer. If you are interested in the Palm Parkway one, check Orlandoinfo.com and get yourself an Orlandomagic Card. You can probably get a discounted rate at the Homewood Suite in Orlando with the card (or just ask for a discount and see what they say!). Sorry about the mis-information.. hope it doesn't cause a problem!.....

Thank you everyone for the info on Homewood Suites - I just booked our room there for next October. I think it'll be perfect for us!
