My dh and I are squabbling over how to say it is it, con -c- air like my dh says or is it con - c - air-ge (soft g) like I say it. I hope I'm right.

I've always pronounced it "kon-see-airge". Now I wonder if that's right!

You are pronouncing it correctly, with the soft "g". If it were spelled concier, your DH would be correct, but I don't even think that's a word, French or otherwise...

You say Po-ta-toe I say Po-ta-toe I have heard it said both ways. As to what is actually correct I don't know...but people will know what your talking about either way.

Here is the official Mariam-Webster pronunciation....

Main Entry: con·cierge
Pronunciation: kOn-'syerzh

(if you can understand what they want you to say! I don't have much practice and using "zh" ;) )

I say CON-SEE-AIR. Even if this isnt right I still will say it that way, I never go by the rules of life :D

It's good to be right :) Towncrier that site is great, it was nice to actually hear it said.
