Hopefully someone can settle a debate between my DBF and his parents..

DBF insists that before Chef Mickey's was where it is now at the Contemporary, it was in Downtown Disney. His parents insist that Chef Mickey's also had a stint in the Contemporary where the Concourse Steakhouse is now. Which is correct?

Thanks a million!!! :goodvibes

Chef Mickey's was at DTD before, but I think his parents are right too. I know it was in a different spot in the contemporary before too.

It was definitely in DTD back in 1990. I worked on the Empress Lilly during my College Program internship, and sometimes worked with the character breakfast held on the EL! :teeth: Boy, I miss those days. :guilty:

It did used to be in DTD, near where Rainforest is now.

It moved in 1995ish, although I don't recall it ever being anywhere but where it is in the CR.

Actually, both are correct. Chef Mickey's was originally at DTD, then moved to the Contemporary, where the Concourse Steakhouse currently is, before moving to it's current location.

It was at DTD but it wasn't a buffet restaurant then - in fact it was much nicer.

I remember in about 1987 there was a character breakfast at the contemp though! I was 8 years old and saw it as we drove through the contemp on the monorail. The whole rest of the trip I bugged my mom if we could eat there.
Was there a different restaurant that had character meals there at that time?

yes, the contemporary hosted character breakfasts long before "chef mickeys" was there... i do not know the name of that restaurant, but i had breakfast there in '85/'86 :earsgirl:

Until Chef Mickey's move, the character restaurant was called, um, Character Cafe. Concourse Steakhouse was called Concourse Grille.

Until the late '80s or early '90s the two restaurants were known as Terrace Cafe and Terrace Buffeteria, one of which also served as the Pueblo Room (confused yet?)

I agree! I ordered an enormous rack of ribs that were awesome at this restaurant. The one drawback, the only character there was Mickey Mouse (in his chef's outfit). The food was much better. Those were the days...

We went to Chef Mickey's when it was at the Disney Marketplace in 1990. It was located approximately where the Rainforest Cafe is now.

My sister and I got those ribs on the "Food N Fun" plan in 1993! She was so tiny (13) and we had no idea how huge the rack would be. We were cracking up and so were the people around us. I really miss the old Chef Mickeys. It was SO much nicer.

I remember the buffet at CR back in the late 70s early 80s :earsboy:
