Can someone point me in the direction of a DVC tutorial?

Some quick facts: We go to Disneyland once a year for six nights hotel/five days in the park. We have three kids, and always take my mom as well (her and dh take turns going out at night with ME. It's good to be the Mom.).

Our next trip is in June.

We usually budget about six grand for our trip.

When my kids get older, I'm looking forward to being able to at least *think* about flying with them without cringing (they are currnetly 6, 3, and 2).

Our income should double in about three years, when I finish school, so while I don't think we could even afford the DVC now (I have NO clue what it costs or anything else about it), I'm hoping we can afford a couple nice trips a year after I graduate (a cruise and a land trip, or whatever).

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Ps, my dh was active duty Navy until four years ago (he's in the reserves now). He thinks the idea of going on a cruise is insane. He's never been on one save for his "vacations" with the Navy. If any of you are past Navy, any pointers on convincing dh that this would be a totally different "cruise"??

Here is the official Disney web site http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/index

Look here too http://allearsnet.com/acc/dvc.htm

Check it out, I also sent you a pm with more sites/info !! ;)
Too bad you didn't ask sooner. The SSR incentive ends 1/20 and your certainly not ready to take the plunge yet.
Consider your output of 6K, 150 Pts (Disney's minimum) at SSR with member incentives is less than 13K.
There is also rumored that there will be a Ca. DVC, dont know when..future

Ok, so from the PMs I've gotten, it looks like this is more for somebody who wants to travel to WDW most of the time. We live six hours from DL so maybe this is not for us.

If you want to go mostly to DL, you are correct - DVC is not a good value for you.

That said, keep an ear out - rumors are very strong that DVC will build at DL in the near future. Some think it will be next the next DVC after AKL. If so, buying the DL DVC resort might make very good sense for your family.

If and when you're ready to take the brood to Walt Disney World this is where you'll want to stay:

i think this dis might qualify as a fun fact dvc college of knowlege. a lot of the dis participants are members and just reading what they discuss gives a lot of insight. a real plus to read before purchasing, or even after.

if you like disney at all and love family or friend vacations you will love dvc. it does not have to be at disney at all if you prefer other locations.

most of us love it.
