I started Atkins July 2, without a book. I got all my information off the website. My best advice is to go to Atkins.com, click on the "How to do Atkins" button across the top of the screen, and then click on Phase 1: Induction on the toward the upper left hand corner. There is a lot to read here. I printed out everything, you especially will need the Rules of Induction and the Acceptable Foods Lists. They are very easy to understand.
Once you have read this website thouroughly, and printed out everything you will need (allow some time, this may take a little while), it is time to really study that acceptable foods list. Figure out what appeals to you most, what you can eat and really enjoy--and then take the list and go shopping! If you can, get rid of the foods that are NOT on the list that are already in your house. If you cannot, put them all in a remote location and FORGET they exist!
It truly is a wonderful program. The first few days may be hard, but once you cleanse your body of all those carbs, you truly don't miss them! Just yesterday, I made mashed potatoes for the family and I didn't even have the urge to lick the spoon! Stick it out! Don't let one bad day take over your plan---it is worth it!
