starting from bottom to top for all five branches?

In the Army is the Five-Star General the highest rank/honour that a person can receive?

Thanks,
Diane

I can only comment on the Navy ranks as this is the branch of service my DH is in. I do believe that 5 star is the highest in all branches and that there are very few of them around.

Lower Enlisted:
Seaman Recruit (E1)
Seaman Apprentice (E2)
Seaman (E3)
PO3 (Petty Officer Third Class) (E4)
PO2 (Petty Officer Second Class) (E5)

Senior Enlisted:
PO1 (Petty Officer First Class) (E6)
Chief Petty Officer (E7)
Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8)
Master Chief Petty Officer (E9) {Highest enlisted rank)

Warrant Officer:
Chief Warrant Officer 1 (W1)
Chief Warrant Officer 2 (W2)
Chief Warrant Officer 3 (W3)
Chief Warrant Officer 4 (W4)

Commissioned Officer:
Ensign (O1)
LTJG (Lt. Jr. Grade) (O2)
LT (O3)
LT Commander (O4)
Commander (O5)
Captain (O6)
Rear Admiral (lower) (O7)
Rear Admiral (upper) (O8)
Vice Admiral (O9)
Admiral (O10)
Fleet Admiral (O11) (5 star)

Out of curiosity, I did a search, this link is an excellent answer to your questions. The link will bring you to the officer ranks, but at the top of the page you can click on the enlisted ranks as well and these are for all branches of the service. And the 5 star rank is used in war time only, probably the reason there are very few.
