Can someone please explain what point reallocation means?

Here is my problem. I have a Dec UY. I have 200 VGC developers points that I used with 18 of my UY09 points to make a reservation at GCH for this week. I just had to cancel due to illness. To book the same reservation later this summer is 253 points. No problem, but in the meantime I used the rest of UY09 points on a reservation for WDW in December.

Can they move the points from the UY10 to my December reservation so I can get the 35 points I need for the new reservation? Is this a points allocation?

I swear it might just be easier to buy another 25 points since I am in my UY08and would get two years points if they would transfer back the 18 2009 points they manually adjusted out. :rotfl:

Yes, they should be able to do what you want. Basically, you will be borrowing 09 points into your 08 UY to fulfill the summer vacation, and then borrowing 2010 points, back into your 09 UY to fulfill the Dec 09 vacation.

When you call MS, be sure that you explain exactly what you want them to do so that things don't get messed up, including exactly how many of which points you want to cover each reservation.

I really like your idea of just buying some more points!!! It is always a good thing to have more points.

Good luck.

That isn't point reallocation, that's borrowing.

Point reallocation is when Disney decided that weekends are too expensive and so there isn't enough demand, but weekdays sell out to fast, so they make weekdays slightly more expensive and weekends slightly less. That has happened twice - it just happened, and it happened back when OKW was the only resort. They have to keep the overall number of points at the resort the same, so if something goes up, something somewhere went down. But they could make grand villas more expensive and one bedrooms less, or make early December more expensive and Easter less, or.....

Thanks! It makes it harder when you are dealing with developers points. I really may just buy some more points because my December reservations are for Christmas and I am afraid that in the moving of points, I would lose part of my reservation. :scared1: ITA you can never have too many points! :lmao:

Thanks! I thought there was a type of points allocation that you could do between contracts but I couldn't find it when I tried a search so maybe it was some DVC thing I just made up. :confused3

Thanks for your help. It is hard to figure out these complicated DVC transactions when you are sick and disappointed that you aren't going to DL on Wednesday. :sad1:

I have had MS use the term "reallocation" when doing what you wish to do. I have done it a number of times. We have had to cancel reservations that included banked points. MS has reallocated the banked points from the canceled reservation to another existing reservation and in that way freed up current use year points that could be banked. We also did it for a reservation using borrowed points, for the same reason. This process cannot be used to circumvent the 7 month/11 month rules, so if the reservation used the 11 month advantage then the substituted points must be from the same home resort. Be forewarned that some CMs at MS seem more familiar with this process than others. If you call and get someone who appears to be a novice at this issue, then I would call back. Good luck!

Thanks, Jean, I found this out yesterday when I spoke to someone who basically could tell it would be a lot of work to figure out and said to call back today. I did the survey and asked for a call back so hopefully it will get addressed with a supervisor.

I am afraid in the "reallocation" that I will lose my Christmas reservation so I just went ahead and did a 25 point add on. I wanted more AKV points anyway and this was as good an excuse for addonitis as any. :rotfl:
