Can someone please explain how Holding Points work in this scenario?

I have a reservation, arrival is less than 2 weeks out.

If I cancel, do I understand correctly that my points going into a holding account?

Also, is it true that I will have until the end of their UY to use them? (My points have Aug UY, so this would mean till Aug 2016, right?)

What are the conditions for using these points? I read the info online but I want to make sure I understand it. From what I gather, I will have until July 31, 2016 to use them. The restriction is that the reservation I make with them cannot be more than 60 days out. So, for instance, if I want to go February 10th, I could not book any earlier than December 10th. Am I understanding that right?

EDITED to ADD: I had holding points for the first them this year. They were easier than I expected to book at 60-days. I hope you have the same!

I know the booking window is 60 days and yes they do expire at the end of their UY. If you have an Aug UY then those points would expire on July 31, 2016 if they are 2015 points. Holding Points cannot be banked or borrowed.

I just saw your reply....good news! Were you able to book a high demand resort at 60 days? For us, we really like AKV and I've noticed it's one of the resorts with availability the longest so we will hopefully be ok!

You will not be able to book Feb 10th until Dec 12th. Both Dec and Jan have 31 days.

I just saw your reply....good news! Were you able to book a high demand resort at 60 days? For us, we really like AKV and I've noticed it's one of the resorts with availability the longest so we will hopefully be ok!

We left our January stay early -- and the remaining nights on the reservation went into holding. We were able to book a Poly Studio a weekend in late April. We got to enjoy a spontaneous Flower & Garden visit. Whoo-hoo!

Whoa! That is lucky! I'm not expecting anything quite like that for spring break, but it's good to know you were able to use the points without any problems. Worst case scenario, we will book something in the summer when we have more free time. The points wouldn't expire till July 31st so there should be lots of options!
