I'm looking to rent points for the first time and am trying to understand the Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villas options.

I was looking at this website http://www.wdwinfo.com/resort/dvcpoint.cfm and saw the three options under AKV include:

Studio - Value Accomodations
Studio - Standard View
Studio - Savannah View

Can someone please explain what the Value Accomodations means? I know there are two houses (Jambo and Kidani.) Are the Value Accomodations in one of those two houses, or are those in the actual Animal Kingdom Lodge? What is the difference between the Value and the other two options?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Value accommodations are only at Jambo House, the original AK building. They were created from standard rooms on the 5th floor on the Ostrich and Giraffe trails, so are 3 feet shorter than the other DVC rooms on the 5th floor. The balcony is also more narrow. The views are 40% Sunset Savanna, 40% pool view, and 20% parking lot.

Due to the smaller size, the 1 bedroom sleeps only 4, and the 2 br sleeps 8. They do not have the foldout sleeper chair found in the larger DVC rooms at Jambo and Kidani.

Value accomodations are located in Jambo House, the original Animal Kingdom Lodge. They are slightly smaller in the living room and bedroom portion of the villa. Bathrooms and kitchens are the same size as the other categories.

When DVC was first offered at AKL there was only Jambo House (no Kidani-it had to be constructed). Value rooms were rooms that were originally hotel rooms that were converted to be DVC accomodations. Since part of Jambo House had slightly smaller hotel rooms a value category was added to DVC to 'compensate' for the discrepency in room size.

In a value room you may get a parking lot view, pool view, or even a savanna view. You cannot book/reserve your view with a value...it's luck of the draw.

Regarding the views: Although 20% of the value accomodations are parking lot views, I've rarely, if ever, heard of someone on DVC points, getting a parking lot view. ANd although you can't reserve a particular view with value accomodations (pool or savannah), you can put in a request. I know one poster here was told by MS that with value accomodations, they won't even take requests for views. But I put in a request for a savannah view for my next value studio stay. Of course, I have no idea if I'll be lucky enough to get it or not. If so, the savannah view is of the Sunset Savannah.
