Can someone please clarify the booking process?

Hi,

I'm very confused about the booking process for a Disney wedding!
I was under the impression that at 12 months from the date you could be pencilled in and at 8 months the booking would be confirmed. However, recently quite a few people have posted on here saying that they have been booked in for the end of next year-how is that possible? I'm looking at a Nov 2011 wedding so should I also be getting my date booked?

Any guidance would be appreciated x

From what I understand, Disney has extended the time of booking. You can now book up to 16 months prior to your wedding date. So I would contact Disney and see if you can put in for your date. I was told I could book in August for my December wedding. Hope this helps!

It mostly depends on your location. The Wedding Pavillion can't be confirmed as early as other locations. I used Sea Breeze Point, and I confirmed 12 months before. WP is only 8. I think they recently changed the rules, however, so I would certainly check in!

I believe starting June 1st you can now be penciled in at 16 mo. and booked at 12 mo. out rather than penciled in at 12 mo. and booked at 8 mo. Well, actually I know this is the case, and you may even be able to book earlier depending on your locations, this is what I am not sure of, so I would deff. contact Disney and look into it, because at the very least you should be able to be penciled in now.

Are you Escape or Wishes?

Escape Weddings
Pencilled in at 12 months, booked at 8 months

Wishes Weddings
Pencilled in whenever, booked at 16 months = if your reception will be held in a theme park, at Ariel's and/or at Atlantic Dance Hall. Sometimes you can book even earlier than 16 months for these venues...

Pencilled in at 16 months, booked at 12 months = if your reception will take place at any other venue (i.e., in a convention center)

My fiance and I are getting married at the Wedding Pavilion Nov 2011. We've met on two different occasions with a consultant already. She said that 16 months out they can "save your date" and then 12 months out you sign the contract, pay the deposit, and are all set to start the nitty gritty planning.

:) hope this helps

I am having an Escape wedding as we are travelling over from the UK and only inviting close relatives. We're going to Orlando this November to make our final decision so once we're back in England perhaps I will phone and get the date pencilled in! Just hope we'll be able to get everything we want and not have to fight it out with other brides, although we're not particularly attached to a specific date so should be ok!!

Thanks for your responses x

Hey, just wanted to pass on good wishes to a fellow UK Bride! Hope everything works out for you x :goodvibes

We are planning a Wishes wedding and my consultant emailed me this in May after our site visit:

You may have or may be getting an email from Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings letting you know that our booking guidelines are changing as of June 1, 2010 of this year. After June 1, 2010 we are going to be able to tentatively hold space for our Couples at 16 months and depending on where their Reception is taking place either go to contract at that 16 months (if it is a special venue – Ariel’s, Atlantic Dance, Theme Park, etc…) or go to contract at 12 months (if it is a ballroom location).

Maybe this helps. :)

I don't even know where to begin! If I want to get married on January 3, 2012 when should I call to book? I plan on having an escape wedding at the WP. I had no idea that you were first penciled in then booked. Does the 16 month rule apply to escape weddings? please help! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately the 16-month rule doesn't apply to Escape weddings. You could try calling more than 12 months out—they may give you the basic Escape info—but you won't be able to really get the ball rolling until 12 months out. Then you can confirm your date and sign your contract at 8 months out.
