Can someone please answer a question for me??

I knew this would be the best place in the world to ask this question. During Marathon weekend, I know there are medals for the 5k, the Half, the Full and Goofy's challenge. But there are two that we are missing. It seems like someone like Jeff should have gotten another medal (the Dopey) for doing all 3 races. But since doing the Full and the Half warrent a Goofy medal, what about the ones that do the 5k and the Half? Don't they deserve something along the same lines?

Don't get me wrong. I am grateful for the 2 medals that I was able to receive. But I guess I am a little envious for the bling now that I have gotten a little taste of it.

I think because the emphasis is not on the 5K.

But you can go do the 1/2 at Disneyland and get the extra coast-to-coast medal if you need an extra!!

Not to pop anyone's bubble, but the whole "extra medal" thing might be getting a little bit out of hand. just my little opinion.

I kind of figured that it was because of that reason. I know that the 5k is considered a "baby race". Since it isn't timed or chipped, it would be impossible for it to count.

I hope I didn't sound like a "whiner" saying "Where is my other medal? I did 2 races." Just as a newbie to the racing scene, I guess I wanted to add to my medal count. Instead of looking for multiple medals, I am looking into doing a local Half Marathon, the Mercedes. I haven't signed up yet but I am thinking hard about it. It's less than a month away and I haven't done any cardio since I returned from WDW. I guess I need to make up my mind and get off of my big butt. That will be the best way for me to add to my medal count.

And "the Dopey" is not a "real" race like the Goofy - it is something we refer to here, but not something that Disney recognizes or packages & sells. In other words you can register for the Goofy and then register separately for the 5K, but Disney does not package those into something called "The Dopey" that you can register for at one time.

It would be nice to have the Dopey as an event but the down side is that if Disney did do that they would raise the price on the 5K to near the half and full price and that would make it $800 for a couple just to register.

We are still wondering what we were thinking spending $604 to register for the Goofy.

That was one thing that I didn't think about and I am in the same boat so it should have been first on my list.

Doing Dopey is just a thing of pride (or stupidity depending on who you ask). 42.4 miles over three days of running just shows how dumb I can be.

Actually it's well over that mileage when you consider all the walking to/from hotel room to the car, and to/from the start and finish lines. Oh, and don't forget the expo and walking the parks.

Also there is a 5K at the Disneyland Half, which we did last year, but will forgo this year. I think to do all five races in one year makes me Dumbo. But you all already knew that.

I will also score the Coast to Coast medal for the second year.

I do get the two plastic medals for the 5K's, but they won't fit in my Coast to Coast frame that I get at the Disneyland Expo.

Hmm, I'll coin the phrase here, if you do all 5 races in a single calendar year, then you're "Grumpy" (or completely broke!).

So to wrap it up in a nutshell, I'm a Nut, I'm a Nut, I'm a Nut.

And yea, the Dopey is a just a pride thing. Although I enjoyed it this year, I won't do it next year. Might not even do Goofy although once you do it once it is hard not to sign up again.

Don't forget we pay dearly for that extra medal. Disney doesn't give it to you. And I don't mean pay dearly with our bodies, although we do, I mean actual cash!
